  1. 11. Effects of Complement Opsonization of HIV on Dendritic Cells : and Implications for the Immune Response

    Författare :Rada Ellegård; Marie Larsson; Jorma Hinkula; Johan D Söderholm; William Paxton; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; HIV; dendritic cells; complement; innate immune response; TLR signaling; T cell activation; NK cells; inflammation; antiviral response; immune evasion;

    Sammanfattning : Dendritic cells are key players during HIV pathogenesis, and shape both the immediate immune response at the site of infection as well as directing the adaptive immune response against the virus. HIV has developed a plethora of immune evasion mechanisms that hijack dendritic cell functions, suppressing their ability to mount an accurate immune response and exploiting them for efficient viral transfer to target T cells. 2. 12. The role of the complement system in arthritis and stroke

    Författare :Max Albert Hietala; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :complement; C3; factor B; transgenic knockout; arthritis; focal cerebral ischemia;

    Sammanfattning : Complement is part of the innate immune system and functions primarily as a first line of defense against invading microorganisms. It is a complex cascade, which can be activated via three pathways: the classical, alternative and mannan-binding lectin pathway. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Antibody Feedback Regulation and T Cells

    Författare :Fredrik Carlsson; Birgitta Heyman; Alf Grandien; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Fc receptors; B cell; T cell; antigen presentation; complement receptors; complement; IgE; IgG3; CD23; antibody; Immunology; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Antibodies, passively administered or actively produced, regulate immune responses to the antigen they recognize. This phenomenon is called antibody-mediated feedback regulation. Feedback regulation can be positive or negative, resulting in >1000-fold enhancement or >99% suppression of the specific antibody response. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Complement-dependent defence against bacterial infection. Studies in C2 deficiency

    Författare :Barbro Selander; immunologi och glykobiologi - MIG Avdelningen för mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; antibody responses; polysaccharide antigens; vaccination; mannan-binding lectin MBL ; complement; C2 deficiency; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : The complement system is critically involved in defence against bacterial infection. C2 deficiency is, apart from mannan-binding lectin (MBL) deficiency, the most common homozygous complement deficiency among Caucasians. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Feedback Enhancement of Antibody Responses via Complement and Fc Receptors

    Författare :Jörgen Dahlström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Mouse; transgenic knockout; immune regulation; B lymphocytes; Fc receptors; complement; IgG; IgM; IgE; Fc-gamma-RI; Fc-gamma-RII; Fc-gamma-RIII; CR1; CR2; CD21; CD35; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : IgG, IgM and IgE in complex with antigen have the capacity to regulate specific immune responses. In this investigation, the role of Fc receptors for IgG (FcγRI, FcγRII and FcγRIII) and complement receptors 1 and 2 (CR1/2) for antibody-mediated enhancement of antibody responses are investigated.
