1. Cell adhesion proteins in different invasive patterns of colon carcinomas : a morphometric and molecular genetic study
Sammanfattning : Colorectal carcinoma is the second most common type of cancer in both men and women in Sweden. Cancer of the colon and rectum are often considered together and their ten year survival rate is approximately 50 – 60 % depending on sex and location. LÄS MER
2. Intestinal mucins 'soluble and insoluble problems'
Sammanfattning : Highly glycosylated glycoproteins – mucins – are the major constituents of the mucus layer and glycocalyx that cover mucosal surfaces. Twelve human mucin genes have been identified, and the mucins may be divided into those that are membraneassociated and those that are secreted. LÄS MER
3. CT colonography. Technique, diagnostic accuracy and patient acceptance
Sammanfattning : The aim was to evaluate diagnostic potential, technical performance, and patient acceptance of CT colonography when used for detection of colorectal polyps and cancer in symptomatic patients with a high risk of colorectal neoplasia. Methods: After bowel preparation, 111 symptomatic patients underwent CT colonography followed by conventional colonoscopy. 4. NO, Immunosuppression and Tumor Immmunotherapy
Sammanfattning : This study aims at clarifying the role of NO in the immunosuppression induced by in vivo tumor growth and by tumor immunotherapy, and determining whether the inhibition of NO production can be used as an adjuvant in tumor immunotherapy. We have shown previously that tumor cells, glioma (N32) and colon carcinoma (H1D2), when genetically engineered to express such immune stimulatory cytokines as IFN-g and IL-18, induce strong anti-tumor immune response, in immunized tumor-free rats, whereas only a limited therapeutic effect is achieved in rats in which a tumor has already become established. 5. 5-Fluorouracil mediated cell death signaling in colon carcinoma cells
Sammanfattning : Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common form of cancer in the world. 5- Fluorouracil (5-FU) belongs to the fluoropyrimidine-type of drugs and is commonly used in the treatment of several solid tumors. It has become the mainstay of CRC treatment at stage III and high risk stage II, either alone or in combination with other drugs. LÄS MER
