  1. 1. Social causality in motion : Visual bias and categorization of social interactions during the observation of chasing in infancy

    Författare :Martyna A. Galazka; Pär Nyström; Gustaf Gredebäck; Moritz Daum; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; social causality; motion; animacy perception; chasing goal-directed motion; heat-seeking; EEG; P400; Nc; spatial proximity; non-contact causality; functional specialization; specialized perception; evolution; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Since the seminal work of Fritz Heider and Marienne Simmel (1944) the study of animacy perception, or the perception and attribution of life from the motion of simple geometrical shapes has intrigued researchers. The intrigue for psychologists and vision scientists then and today centered on the stark disconnect between the simplicity of the visual input and the universal richness of the resulting percept. 2. 2. Attraction Based Models of Collective Motion

    Författare :Daniel Strömbom; David J. T. Sumpter; Andreas Deutsch; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; flocking; swarming; self-propelled particles; alignment-free models; agent-based modelling; leaf-cutting ant traffic; sheep-sheepdog system; the Shepherding problem; Mathematics with specialization in Applied Mathematics; Matematik med inriktning mot tillämpad matematik;

    Sammanfattning : Animal groups often exhibit highly coordinated collective motion in a variety of situations. For example, bird flocks, schools of fish, a flock of sheep being herded by a dog and highly efficient traffic on an ant trail. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Space in motion : the art of activating space in-between

    Författare :Monica Sand; Abdellah Abarkan; Annette Arlander; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; in-between; dispersed production; producer observer; bridge; swing; penelope; Architecture; Arkitektur; Art; Konstvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : As a contribution to the emerging field of practice-based research in the arts, this thesis aims to activate space, experience and the concept in-between. As the in-between cannot be defined ahead of the rhythmic process it carries out and of which it is a part – a rhythm inherent in the city itself and in knowledge production – it is necessary to produce rhythmic relations between bodies, sites and concepts. 4. 4. Quantum Chaos and Dissipation in Finite Fermi Systems

    Författare :Sergiy Radionov; Matematisk fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; statistical physics; gravitation; relativity; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; classical mechanics; quantum mechanics; Dissipation; Quantum Chaos; Collective motion; thermodynamics; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; klassisk mekanik; kvantmekanik; relativitet; statistisk fysik; termodynamik;

    Sammanfattning : We address the problem of the dissipative character of collective motion in finite Fermi systems. We study this problem from the point of view of chaotic features of the fermionic degrees of freedom of the many-body Fermi systems. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Free Ensemble Improvisation

    Författare :Harald Stenström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; aleatorics; artistic research; attractor state; central tone; chaotic systems; collective understanding; comprovisation; conceptual model; directed motion; ensemble size; feedback and feedforward; free ensemble improvisation; gesture; importance of rhythm; indeterminacy; interactional skill; listening skill; musical evaluation; musical interaction; musical maturity; musical chemistry; musical interpretation; musical composition; non-idiomatic improvisation; rhythmic flow; sound properties; stylistic influences;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this doctoral project has been to study so-called non-idiomatic improvisation in ensembles consisting of two or three musicians who play together without any restrictions regarding style or genre and without having predetermined what is to be played or how they should play. The background to this thesis has been the author’s own free improvising, which he has pursued since 1974, and the questions that have arisen whilst music-making. LÄS MER
