  1. 11. Identification of Arthritis Susceptibility Genes in Mice and Humans

    Författare :Emma Ahlqvist; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunologi; transplantation; serology; Immunology; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Biomedicinska vetenskaper; QTL; Biomedical sciences; Rheumatoid arthritis; Collagen-induced arthritis; serologi; Skeleton; muscle system; rheumatology locomotion; Skelett; muskelsystem; reumatologi; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease with a largely unknown aetiology. The risk of developing RA is partly dependent on genetic factors, which has motivated extensive efforts to identify the disease regulating genes as away to understand disease pathogenesis. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Genetic analysis of autoimmune diseases using animal models : Mapping susceptibility genes for multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis

    Författare :Hai-Tao Yang; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Collagen induced arthritis CIA ; Experimental allergic encephalomyelities EAE ; Multiple sclerosis MS ; Quantitative trait loci QTL ; Rheumatoid arthritis RA ; Linkage analysis; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Medical Genetics; medicinsk genetik;

    Sammanfattning : Autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis are common human diseasesaffecting 1% and 0.1% of the population respectively. These diseases are characterized by abnormal self-tolerance in the immune system and autoimmune reactions. LÄS MER

  3. 13. T cells in Autoimmunity: studies on murine type II collagen-induced arthritis

    Författare :Alexandre Corthay; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunologi; Autoimmunity T lymphocytes collagen-induced arthritis Glycosylation TCR; transplantation; serology; Immunology; serologi; Skeleton; muscle system; rheumatology locomotion; Skelett; muskelsystem; reumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) is a mouse model for rheumatoid arthritis, in which autoimmunity is induced by immunization with type II collagen (CII), a cartilage-specific protein. In the present work, alpha/beta T cells were shown to be required for CIA and for the production of anti-CII IgG antibodies, whereas gamma/delta T cells were neither necessary nor sufficient for development of CIA. 4. 14. Arthritis Susceptibility and Tolerance in Collagen Transgenic Mice

    Författare :Vivianne Malmström; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; rheumatology locomotion; animal model arthritis collagen autoimmunity tolerance cartilage mice; muscle system; Skeleton; Skelett; muskelsystem; reumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on work trying to understand the normal and pathological interactions taking place between the immune system and cartilage, specifically involving the cartilage-specific protein typ II collagen (CII). The work has been carried out in an experimental model of rheumatoid arthritis namely collagen type II induced arthritis (CIA) in mice. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Role of environmental toxins in chronic experimental arthrithis - in search for anti-inflammatory pathways of ethanol and nicotine

    Författare :Sofia Silfverswärd Lindblad; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; rheumatoid arthritis; collagen-induced arthritis; ethanol; testosterone; nuclear factor kappa B; smoking; nicotine; NMDA; regulatory T cells;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a common systemic autoimmune disorder and a debilitating disease affecting 1% of the world population. The etiology of RA is an unresolved issue. Environmental factors such as alcohol intake and cigarette smoke have been described as contributing to the pathogenesis of RA. LÄS MER
