21. Microstructural, Mechanical and Tribological Characterisation of CVD and PVD Coatings for Metal Cutting Applications
Sammanfattning : The present thesis focuses on characterisation of microstructure and the resulting mechanical and tribological properties of CVD and PVD coatings used in metal cutting applications. These thin and hard coatings are designed to improve the tribological performance of cutting tools which in metal cutting operations may result in improved cutting performance, lower energy consumption, lower production costs and lower impact on the environment. 22. Fatty acid methyl esters as reactive diluents in solvent-borne thermally cured coil-coatings
Sammanfattning : This work describes how a fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) derived from a vegetable oil can be introduced as reactive diluent in a solvent-borne thermally cured coil-coating system. The evaluated reactive diluent, rape seed methyl ester (RME), has been evaluated both in a fully formulated clear coat system and via model studies. LÄS MER
23. Design of Thermal Barrier Coatings : A modelling approach
Sammanfattning : Atmospheric plasma sprayed (APS) thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) are commonly used for thermal protection of components in modern gas turbine application such as power generation, marine and aero engines. TBC is a duplex material system consisting of an insulating ceramic topcoat layer and an intermetallic bondcoat layer. LÄS MER
24. Performance of MCrAlX coatings : Oxidation, Hot corrosion and Interdiffusion
Sammanfattning : MCrAlY coatings (M=Ni and/or Co) are widely used for the protection of superalloy components against oxidation and hot corrosion in the hot sections of gas turbines. The drive for coating systems to bestow adequate oxidation and corrosion resistance upon the components becomes urgent as an inevitable result of the necessary improvement in engine combustion efficiency and service lifetime. 25. Corrosion of ferritic stainless steels used in solid oxide fuel cells - Investigation of novel coatings in single- and dual-atmosphere conditions
Sammanfattning : Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs) are systems that convert chemical energy into electrical energy. Their high electrical efficiency and clean emissions (when H2 is used as fuel) make them a strong candidate for replacing conventional conversion systems, such as combustion engines. LÄS MER
