  1. 1. Towards new tools for clinical evaluation and visualization of tumor growth in patients with glioma

    Författare :Kenney Roy Roodakker; Anja Smits; Anne-Marie Landtblom; Elna-Marie Larsson; Jan J. Heimans; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :PROX1; Histology; MRI; PET; Epilepsy; Co-registration; Neurology; Neurologi;

    Sammanfattning : Gliomas are derived from glial cells and are the most common type of primary brain tumors in adults. Gliomas are classified by the World Health Organization (WHO) according to their malignancy grade and histological and molecular features. Malignancy grades range from I to IV. WHO grade I tumors are benign tumors, mostly occurring in childhood. LÄS MER

  2. 2. MRI and SPECT neuroimaging in mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease

    Författare :Per Julin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns measurements of regional brain volumes using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and of regional cerebral blood flow (CBF) using Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) in patients investigated for suspected dementia. In the first study (I), visually rated MRI-, SPECT and EEG-pathology were compared between patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and patients with Frontal Lobe Dementia (FLD). LÄS MER

  3. 3. On-scalp MEG using high-Tc SQUIDs: Measuring brain activity with superconducting magnetometers

    Författare :Christoph Pfeiffer; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; high-Tc SQUID; neuroimaging; magnetoencephalography; localization; on-scalp MEG; sensor array; magnetometer;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes work done towards realizing on-scalp magnetoencephalography (MEG) based on high critical temperature (high- T c) superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) sensors. MEG is a non-invasive neuroimaging modality that records the magnetic fields produced by neural currents with good spatial and high temporal resolution. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Supporting Quantitative Visual Analysis in Medicine and Biology in the Presence of Data Uncertainty

    Författare :Khoa Tan Nguyen; Timo Ropinski; Anders Ynnerman; Anna Vilanova Bartroli; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The advents of technologies have led to tremendous increases in the diversity and size of the available data. In the field of medicine, the advancements in medical imaging technologies have dramatically improved the quality of the acquired data, such as a higher resolution and higher signal-to-noise ratio.
