1. Studies of targeted therapy in breast cancer using trastuzumab : HER2 testing and trastuzumab treatment, clinical and economic evaluation
Sammanfattning : The incidence in breast cancer has more than tripled in Sweden since the 1960-ies. During the same time period the 5-year survival rate has increase from around 65% to almost 90%. The survival increase is mainly related to medical treatments (endocrine treatments, chemotherapy in different combinations), radiotherapy and breast cancer screening. LÄS MER
2. A holistic approach to host-pathogen interactions : Detecting the large to unravel the small
Sammanfattning : Sepsis is one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in the world, and is an overreaction by the immune system due to pathogen invasion of the bloodstream. The interactions, particularly the protein interactions, between the host and pathogen are fundamental for the outcome of the disease. LÄS MER
3. Theorizing the therapeutic process in substance use-related dependency treatment
Sammanfattning : The aim of the thesis was to increase knowledge on how to understand the therapeutic process highlighting the importance of the therapeutic relationship as described by therapists and clients in substance use-related dependency treatment. The research questions were related to how the therapeutic process can contribute to a positive outcome considering the therapists’, the clients’ and close co-dependent relatives’ perspectives. 4. On the Design of Ultra-fast Electro-Mechanical Actuators
Sammanfattning : The continuously increasing demand for connecting electric grids with remote renewable energy sources such as wind power and photovoltaic cells has rekindled interest in high voltage direct current (HVDC) multi-terminal networks. Although HVDC networks have numerous benefits, their adoption relies entirely on the availability of HVDC circuit breakers which, compared to traditional alternating current circuit breakers, have to operate in a time frame of milliseconds. 5. Malory and Authorship: A Study of an Irresolvable Debate
Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the scholarly study of Sir Thomas Malory’s Le Morte Darthur, especially the way in which the field has been shaped by the discovery of the Winchester MS in 1934. Owing to the complex relationship between the manuscript and the printed edition of 1485, both contradictory and co-dependent, Le Morte seems to invite a number of narratives regarding its origins and originality while simultaneously foreclosing definitive resolution.
