21. Aortic aneurysms and dissections. A clinical follow-up after surgery
Sammanfattning : ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study was to report on the results after aortic surgery on thoracic aneurysms and dissections and to study the feasibility of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the follow-up after aortic surgery. In this thesis, 203 patients ungergoing surgery on the thoracic aorta between 1977 and 2000 are included. LÄS MER

23. Aspects of the Pre-Diabetic Period in Type 1 Diabetes
Sammanfattning : Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease characterized by insulin deficiency, due to immune-mediated destruction of beta cells. Current knowledge regarding the period preceding disease onset comes, to a large extent, from studying risk cohorts based on relatives of T1D-patients, as they have an increased disease risk. LÄS MER
24. Reconstruction of the RVOT with a conduit: Lifetime follow up
Sammanfattning : Background: The use of a conduit is an established surgical method for reconstruction of the right ventricular outflow tract in congenital heart disease. The most commonly used conduit is a homograft. Its limited durability makes reinterventions almost inevitable but the actual durability of a conduit in the adult population is poorly described. 25. The role of imaging in follow-up and prognosis of patients radically operated for melanoma
Sammanfattning : Cutaneous malignant melanoma (CMM) is the cancer type in Sweden with the most rapidly increasing incidence. This thesis investigated if whole-body imaging improves the follow-up scheme post-surgery in high-risk CMM patients and explored the long-term outcomes for early-stage melanoma patients compared to the general population.
