  1. 11. Regional Lung Mechanics and Influence of an Active Diaphragm in Experimental Lung Injury

    Författare :Mariangela Pellegrini; Anders Sune Larsson; Göran Hedenstierna; Michael Quintel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; acute respiratory distress syndrome; artificial respiration; diaphragm; pulmonary atelectasis; lung imaging; respiratory system; animal model; Fysiologi; Physiology; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care;

    Sammanfattning : Despite being an essential life-support strategy in severe respiratory failure, mechanical ventilation can, if not optimally set and monitored, lead to injury of the lung parenchyma and diaphragm. These conditions are called ventilator-induced lung injury and ventilator-induced diaphragmatic dysfunction (VIDD), respectively. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The worldwide increasing number of persons affected by largely preventable diseases like diabetes demands better prevention and treatment. Insulin is required for effective utilisation of circulating nutrients. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Effect of Ventilatory Support on Abdominal Fluid Balance in a Sepsis Model

    Författare :Marco Lattuada; Göran Hedenstierna; Filip Fredén; Anders Oldner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mechanical ventilation; lymph flow; spontaneous breathing; positive end-expiratory pressure; PEEP; abdominal edema; inflammation; intra-abdominal pressure; IAP; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care; Clinical Physiology; Klinisk fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : In patients affected by acute respiratory failure or acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) the leading cause of death is failure of different vital organs other than the lungs, so called multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). The abdominal organs have a crucial role in the pathogenesis of this syndrome. LÄS MER
