  1. 1. Modelling regional climate-vegetation interactions in Europe : A palaeo perspective

    Författare :Gustav Strandberg; Erik Kjellström; Qiong Zhang; Johan Nilsson; Hans Renssen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Palaeoclimate; climate model; vegetation; vegetation changes; land-cover; changes; proxy data; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : Studies in paleoclimate are important because they give us knowledge about how the climate system works and puts the current climate change in necessary perspective. By studying (pre)historic periods we increase our knowledge not just about these periods, but also about the processes that are important for climatic variations and changes. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Evaluation of climate model simulations by means of statistical methods

    Författare :Ekaterina Fetisova; Gudrun Brattström; Rolf Sundberg; Anders Moberg; Peter Guttorp; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Climate models; Climate proxy; Pseudo-proxy experiment; Factor analysis; the Wald confidence interval; the Fieller confidence set.; Mathematical Statistics; matematisk statistik;

    Sammanfattning : Evaluation of climate model simulations is a key issue within climate research. The statistical framework proposed by Sundberg et al., 2012, provides a theoretical underpinning of methods for evaluation of climate models by use of climateproxy data from the last millennium. 3. 3. Towards a flexible statistical modelling by latent factors for evaluation of simulated responses to climate forcings

    Författare :Ekaterina Fetisova; Gudrun Brattström; Anders Moberg; Rolf Sundberg; Johan Lindström; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Confirmatory Factor Analysis; Measurement Error models; Structural Equation models; Wald confidence interval; Fieller confidence set; Climate model simulations; Climate forcings; Climate proxy data; Detection and Attribution; Mathematical Statistics; matematisk statistik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, using the principles of confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and the cause-effect concept associated with structural equation modelling (SEM), a new flexible statistical framework for evaluation of climate model simulations against observational data is suggested. The design of the framework also makes it possible to investigate the magnitude of the influence of different forcings on the temperature as well as to investigate a general causal latent structure of temperature data. 4. 4. High-resolution simulations of two cold palaeo climates in Europe : MIS 3 and LGM

    Författare :Gustav Strandberg; Erik Kjellström; Qiong Zhang; Johan Nilsson; Anders Moberg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Palaeo climate; climate modelling; proxy data; LGM; MIS 3; meteorologi; Meteorology;

    Sammanfattning : The study of past climate is important because it increases our understanding of how the climate system works. Past climate is often reconstructed by using proxies (that is observations of things that tell something about past climate, for example tree rings, pollen in lake sediments and fossils). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Spatiotemporal prediction of arbovirus outbreak risk : the role of weather and population mobility

    Författare :Aditya L. Ramadona; Joacim Rocklöv; Yesim Tozan; Hari Kusnanto; Lutfan Lazuardi; Paula Moraga; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; arbovirus; dengue; temperature; rainfall; extreme weather; climate variability; population mobility; twitter data; social media; forecasting model; early warning; epidemic; big data; INLA; spatiotemporal model; climate services;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Arboviruses such as dengue and chikungunya have been a significant public health burden globally for several decades. In Indonesia, all four dengue serotypes are circulating. LÄS MER
