1. Climate change adaptation processes : Regional and sectoral stakeholder perspectives
Sammanfattning : This thesis analyses how societal adaptation processes in public and private sectors at the regional to local level in Sweden are enacted. The thesis pays particular attention to critical factors that constrain or enable adaptation by focussing on: who are the stakeholders, how do different stakeholders perceive their capacity to adapt, and the role of stakeholder interaction in facilitating adaptation processes A combination of two analytical perspectives is used where one is based on key concepts within adaptation literature, and the other draws on boundary crossing and transdisciplinary knowledge production (stakeholders, adaptive capacity, and science-based stakeholder dialogues). 2. Arctic Climate and Water Change : Information Relevance for Assessment and Adaptation
Sammanfattning : The Arctic is subject to growing economic and political interest. Meanwhile, its water and climate systems are in rapid transformation. Relevant and accessible information about water and climate is therefore vital to detect, understand and adapt to the changes. LÄS MER
3. Global Adaptation Governance : Evidence from 30 International Organizations, 1990-2017
Sammanfattning : Human adaptation to major climate change and variability is becoming an increasing concern among both scholars and practitioners. This PhD thesis examines the engagement of international organizations (IOs) in the governance of climate change adaptation. LÄS MER
4. Impact of Climate Change on Extreme Events: Insights from Asia and Scandinavia
Sammanfattning : As climate has warmed significantly over past decades, numerous studies have confirmed a pattern of more frequent and more intense hydro-climate events across the globe, such as floods, heatwaves, and droughts. Analyzing the variability of climate events with reliable historical data records is one of the most direct approaches for understanding its patterns of change. LÄS MER
5. Climate change time machine : Adaptation to 30 years of warming in the Baltic Sea
Sammanfattning : Earth mean surface temperature has increased by 1 °C since the industrial revolution, and this has already had considerable effects on animal and plant species. Ecological responses to the warming climate – often facilitated via phenotypic plasticity – are ubiquitous. LÄS MER
