  1. 1. Early Treatment of Class II Malocclusion With Excessive Overjet : evaluating oral health-related quality of life, randomised controlled trials on headgear activator treatment and costs

    Författare :Jenny Kallunki; Liselotte Paulsson; Lars Bondemark; Frank Weiland; Malmö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Orthodontics; Malocclusion; Class II; Oral health-related quality of life; cost analysis; Hälsa och samhälle; Health and society;

    Sammanfattning : Class II malocclusion with excessive overjet is one of the most common malocclusions among children and adolescents. In addition to increasing the risk for dental trauma, the malocclusion can also be related to bullying due to the prominent maxillary incisors. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Functional appliance treatment and stability in Class II/1 malocclusion, and masticatory muscle characteristics

    Författare :Gregory Antonarakis; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Class II malocclusion; functional appliances; masticatory muscles; stability; ultrasonography; bite force;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: To evaluate the short-term antero-posterior effects on Class II division 1 malocclusion in growing children using functional appliances, and investigate whether the functional capacity of the masticatory musculature can be used as a predictive variable in determining the treatment and post-treatment effects following functional appliance treatment. Material and Methods: Firstly, a literature search was carried out identifying prospective clinical trials on the treatment of Class II malocclusion using functional appliances or/and headgear in growing children. 3. 3. Fixed or removable appliance for early orthodontic treatment of functional anterior crossbite : evidence-based evaluations of success rate of interventions, treatment stability, cost-effectiveness and patients perceptions

    Författare :Anna-Paulina Wiedel; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Bettfel; Tandreglering; Ortodonti; Orthodontics; Malocclusion;

    Sammanfattning : Anterior crossbite with functional shift also called pseudo Class III isa malocclusion in which the incisal edges of one or more maxillaryincisors occlude with the incisal edges of the mandibular incisorsin centric relationship: the mandible and mandibular incisors arethen guided anteriorly in central occlusion resulting in an anteriorcrossbite.Early correction, at the mixed dentition stage, is recommended,in order to avoid a compromising dentofacial condition whichcould result in the development of a true Class III malocclusionand temporomandibular symptoms. 4. 4. Dental and orthopedic effects of Bass and Herbst therapy for correction of severe class II division 1 malocclusions

    Författare :Jane Ömblus; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Orthodontics Class 11 malocclusion; skeletal changes dental changes functionalappliance maturity treatment evaluation.;

    Sammanfattning : Functional appliance therapy to correct Class II division I malocclusions has been a subject of debate throughout this century. The aims of this thesis, based on six publications, were to evaluate the dental and orthopedic effects of Bass appliance therapy in relation to treatment intensity, age, and somatic maturation, and to compare initial and post-treatment effects of Herbst and Bass therapy. Sammanfattning : Objectives: Study I: To evaluate the reliability and validity of different superimposition methods and to increase the precision with which craniofacial growth and treatment can be quantified. Study II: To explore the craniofacial changes that occur from early adolescence to late adulthood. LÄS MER
