  1. 1. Structure and function of the HDL receptor SR-BI : scavenger receptor class B type I

    Författare :Magnus S.C. Johnson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SR-BI; HDL; Cholesterol; Scavenger receptor; Apoptosis; Ovary; Gallbladder; Peroxisome;

    Sammanfattning : Low plasma levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and high levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) are well-recognized risk factors for cardiovascular disease. The uptake and degradation of LDL cholesterol have been characterized in detail at the molecular level. Less is known about the metabolism and cellular uptake of HDL cholesterol. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Regulation of epithelial morphogenesis in Drosophila by the Emp scavenger receptor

    Författare :Ana Sofia Pinheiro; Christos Samakovlis; Sofia Araújo; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Emp; scavenger receptor; CD36; cytoskeleton; Src kinase; Diap; DrICE; Hipo Yki; endocytosis; Drosophila; airways; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : The respiratory system of Drosophila melanogaster, the trachea, is widely used as a model system to study the development of branched tubular organs. Airway maturation in Drosophila entails a series of sequential events: first, a massive apical secretion of luminal proteins initiates diametric tube expansion, second an endocytic wave removes luminal proteins and finally liquid clearance and gas filling converts the nascent epithelial tubes to a functional respiratory organ. 3. 3. Studies on scavenger receptor class B type I and genes implicated in foam cell formation

    Författare :Per-Arne Svensson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; scavenger receptor class B type I; high-density lipoprotein; oxidized low-density lipoprotein; macrophages; expression profiling;

    Sammanfattning : The risk of atherosclerosis correlates with plasma levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and is inversely correlated to plasma levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. Accumulation of oxidized LDL (oxLDL) by arterial macrophages is a key event in the development of atherosclerosis. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Towards a detailed understanding of the red blood cell storage lesion : and its consequences for in vivo survival following transfusion

    Författare :Andreas Hult; Christer Malm; Per-Arne Oldenborg; Martin L. Olsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Red blood cell; erythrocyte; transfusion; macrophage; phagocytosis; storage lesion; eryptosis; Class A scavenger receptor; transfusion medicine; transfusionsmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Red blood cells (RBCs) are vital for oxygen delivery to tissues and constitute the vast majority of all cells in blood. After leaving the red bone marrow as mature cells, RBCs have a lifespan of approximately 120 days before they are removed from the circulation by macrophages, mainly in the spleen and liver. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Structure and biological properties of scavenger receptor MARCO

    Författare :Annika Brännström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Macrophages are monocyte-derived cells that play an important role in the innate immune response against invading pathogens. These cells express several host defense receptors that can be divided into two classes; those dependent on opsonizing components for recognition of pathogens, and those that can recognize pathogens directly, pattern recognition receptors (PRRs).
