1. On Visual Perception for an Aerial Robotic Worker
Sammanfattning : Micro Aerial Vehicles and especially multi rotors are gaining more and more attention for accomplishing complex tasks, considering their simple mechanical design and their versatile movement. MAVs are ideal candidates to perform tasks autonomously, to work safely in close proximity and in collaboration with humans, and to operate safely and effectively in natural human environments, like infrastructure inspection-maintenance, underground mine operations and surveillance missions. 2. Perception Aware Guidance Framework for Micro Aerial Vehicles
Sammanfattning : Micro Aerial Vehicles (MAVs) are platforms that have received significant research resources within robotics community, since they are characterized by simple mechanical design and versatile movement. These platforms possess capabilities that are suitable for complex task execution, in situations which are impossible or dangerous for the human operator to perform, as well as to reduce the operating costs and increase the overall efficiency of the operation. 3. Reactive Navigation Methods for Autonomous Robots: Safety, Coordination, and Field Deployment
Sammanfattning : In the new era of intelligent systems, small-scale electronics, and advanced sensors, the application use-cases and operational capabilities of autonomous robots are exponentially increasing. Through their ability to execute complex tasks while relying only on onboard sensors and computation, autonomous field robots are showing promising results in inspection of infrastructure, search-and-rescue or surveillance, maintenance tasks, or in general operations in areas that prove to be dangerous or hazardous for human operators to enter, while also often increasing the efficiency of such tasks.
