11. RhoGTPase Signaling in Cell Polarity and Gene Regulation
Sammanfattning : RhoGTPases are proteins working as molecular switches as they bind and hydrolyze GTP. They are in their active conformation when GTP is bound and are then able to interact with their effector proteins, which relay the downstream signaling. When the GTP is hydrolyzed to GDP, the RhoGTPase is inactivated. LÄS MER
12. Stem Cell Factor Induced Signal Transduction
Sammanfattning : Stem Cell Factor (SCF) can function as a survival factor, a mitogen or a chemoattractant depending on cell type. Binding of SCF to c-Kit induces dimerization and subsequent autophosphorylation of the receptor. This thesis describes the intracellular signal transduction elicited by c-Kit. LÄS MER
13. Leadership and stress : indirect military leadership and leadership during complex rescue operations
Sammanfattning : The overall purpose of this thesis has been to increase the knowledge concerning leadership and stress in complex military and rescue operations. One of the biggest differences these leaders have to deal with compared to leaders in other kinds of organizations is the question of life and death. LÄS MER
14. Biochemical conversion of biomass to biofuels : pretreatment–detoxification–hydrolysis–fermentation
Sammanfattning : The use of lignocellulosic materials to replace fossil resources for the industrial production of fuels, chemicals, and materials is increasing. The carbohydrate composition of lignocellulose (i.e. cellulose and hemicellulose) is an abundant source of sugars. LÄS MER
15. A Longitudinal Study of Asthma : Risk Factors and Prognosis
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to identify risk factors for the onset of adult asthma. Other objectives were to study determinants of smoking habits and the association between sensitization and outcome of asthma. In 1990, a questionnaire was distributed to 12,732 individuals from three age groups (16, 30-39 and 60-69 years) in two counties of Sweden. LÄS MER
