  1. 11. Corrosion of steel bars in fibre reinforced concrete: corrosion mechanisms and structural performance

    Författare :Carlos Gil Berrocal; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; residual flexural capacity; chloride-induced corrosion; electrical resistivity; Fibre reinforced concrete; reinforcement bond; durability; cracking;

    Sammanfattning : The viability of employing fibre reinforcement to improve the durability performance of RC structures by delaying and/or reducing rebar corrosion and by mitigating the structural impact of corrosion-induced damage have been investigated. Given the enhanced crack control of FRC, it could be advantageous to use fibres in civil engineering structures to decrease the ingress of corrosion-initiation substances. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Electroremediation of contaminated soil

    Författare :Pascal Suèr; Bert Allard; Lisbeth M. Ottosen; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; electrokinetic remediation; contaminated soil; mercury; heavy metals; organic compounds; Chemistry; Kemi; Enviromental Science; Miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Electroremediation was applied to contaminated soils in order to study the transport of metals and organic compounds by the external electric field. The electric field caused acidic conditions near the anode, so that copper, zinc, lead, nickel, cadmium, calcium and manganese were released from soil from a chlor-alkali site. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Interaction of water with supplementary cementitious materials: Hydration mechanism, microstructure and moisture transport

    Författare :Liming Huang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hydration; moisture transport; Supplementary cementitious materials; electrical conductivity; formation factor; durability; microstructure;

    Sammanfattning : Supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) offer a sustainable solution to reduce carbon emissions from the production of cement and concrete. This dissertation explores the impact of SCMs and the related additives on the hydration process of cementitious materials, which can affect their microstructure and transport properties. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Water and alkali salts in the hydrating and hardened green cement-based materials: Hydration process, moisture content and transport

    Författare :Liming Huang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Formation factor; Electrical conductivity; Moisture transport; Pore structure; Sustainable cement-based materials; Hydration; Alkali salts; Supplementary cementitious materials;

    Sammanfattning : Reducing CO2 emissions in the production of cementitious binder is the most effective way to decrease the environmental impact of the construction industry, so a large amount of supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) has been used in the green concrete. Both the SCMs and alkali salts in binders influence the hydration process and the structure in hardened cement-based materials. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Early function of KCC2 and Wnt genes : cytoskeletal effects in neural stem cells

    Författare :Zachi Horn; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : From closure of the neural tube until formation of neuronal networks, cells undergo several crucial changes which depend on the expression of many important molecules. GABA, the principal inhibitory neurotransmitter in the adult nervous system, acts as an excitatory signal during embryonic development. LÄS MER
