  1. 1. Infection biology of Chlamydia pneumoniae

    Författare :Leslie Bailey; Sven Bergström; Peter Nordström; Anders Waldenström; Kenneth Fields; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Chlamydia pneumoniae; Type three secretion system; Bone; Medicine; Medicin;

    Sammanfattning : There are two main human pathogens in the family of Chlamydiaceae. Different serovars of Chlamydia trachomatis cause sexually-transmitted disease and eye infections whereas C. pneumoniae (TWAR) is a common cause of community-acquired respiratory infection. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Chlamydophila pneumoniae in Cardiovascular Diseases : Clinical and Experimental Studies

    Författare :Marie Edvinsson; Göran Friman; Eva Hjelm; Nils-Gunnar Ilbäck; Christina Nyström-Rosander; Stefan Thelin; Björn Berdal; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Communicable diseases; Chlamydophila pneumoniae; Chlamydia pneumoniae; trace elements; atherosclerosis; aortic valve stenosis; thoracic aortic aneurysm; aortic dissection; hepcidin; iron; Infektionssjukdomar;

    Sammanfattning : Chlamydophila pneumoniae (C. pneumoniae) has been suggested as a stimulator of chronic inflammation in atherosclerosis. C. pneumoniae DNA was demonstrated in aortic biopsies in 50% of patients with stable angina pectoris or acute coronary syndrome undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Chlamydia pneumoniae in Children - Epidemiology and Clinical Implications

    Författare :Erik Normann; Björn Wettergren; Håkan Gnarpe; Claes Sundelin; Birger Trollfors; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pediatrics; allergy; asthma; children; Chlamydia pneumoniae; immunohistochemistry; microimmunofluorescence; polymerase chain reaction; respiratory tract infection; Pediatrik; Paediatric medicine; Pediatrisk medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Chlamydia pneumoniae is a human respiratory tract pathogen. Seroepidemiological studies indicate that C. pneumoniae infection is most common in school-aged children and infrequently detected in younger children.The aims of this study were to further elucidate the prevalence of C. 4. 4. Chlamydia pneumoniae in Aortic Valve Sclerosis and Thoracic Aortic Disease : Aspects of Pathogenesis and Therapy

    Författare :Christina Nyström-Rosander; Kenneth Persson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Communicable diseases; Chlamydia pneumoniae; aortic valve sclerosis; trace elements; thoracic aorta; antibiotics; Polymerase Chain Reaction PCR ; electron microscopy EM ; Infektionssjukdomar; Infectious diseases; Infektionssjukdomar; infektionssjukdomar; Infectious Diseases;

    Sammanfattning : The obligate intracellular bacterium Chlamydia pneumoniae (Cp), a common human pathogen, has been associated with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The aetiology of non-rheumatic aortic valve sclerosis has, however, not been clarified. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The Role of Chlamydia pneumoniae-induced Platelet Activation in Cardiovascular Disease : In vitro and In vivo studies

    Författare :Hanna Kälvegren; Torbjörn Bengtsson; Arina Richter; Erik Kihlström; Kenneth Persson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Chlamydia pneumoniae; Platelet; atherosclerosis; Infection; LDL-oxidation; Percutaneous coronary intervention; Cardiovascular disease; Serotonin; Reactive oxygen species production; Pharmacology; Farmakologi;

    Sammanfattning : The common risk factors for atherosclerosis, such as obesity, high cholesterol levels, sedentary lifestyle, diabetes and high alcohol intake, only explain approximately 50% of cardiovascular disease events. It is thereby important to identify new mechanisms that can stimulate the process of atherosclerosis. LÄS MER
