11. Bioprocess monitoring of mammalian cell cultures using modern sensors
Sammanfattning : The need for better monitoring and control of mammalian cell cultures and the quality and safety control of products obtained from these processes is still high. In an attempt to enable better monitoring of the process and the glycosylation pattern of typical mammalian cell cultures two modem sensor methods were used on a chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell culture producing the glycoprotein macrophage colony stimulating factor (M-CSF). 12. Polyamines are involved in the regulation of S phase and DNA synthesis
Sammanfattning : Our research group has previously shown that treatment with the polyamine biosynthesis inhibitors a-difluoromethylornithine (DFMO) or amidinoindan-1-one 2´-amidinohydrazone (CGP 48664) inhibited S phase progression before any other cell cycle phase was affected. This study was undertaken to further investigate the role of polyamines in the regulation of S phase progression and DNA synthesis. LÄS MER
13. Expression of recombinant neutralizing anti-HIV-1 antibodies in bacteria and eukaryotic cells
Sammanfattning : The main purpose of this study was to investigate and optimize techniques for eukaryotic expression of antibody molecules (IgG, Fab and scFV-ê formats), derived from an immune phage displayed Fab library and reactive against HIV-1 glycoproteins gp120 and gp41. Light and heavy-chain (Fd) DNA from a number of Fab clones were transferred from a prokaryotic phagemid vectors to mammalian expression vectors. LÄS MER
14. A study of the cytoplasmic domains of C-CAM isoforms : calmodulin binding and phosphorylation
Sammanfattning : C-CAM, a member of the Immunoglobulin Superfamily, was originally identified as an intercellular adhesion molecule, and can mediate cell-cell adhesion by homophilic binding. However, it also appears in high concentrations in luminal, microvillar surfaces. LÄS MER
15. Interplay between DNA repair pathways at replication forks in mammalian cells
Sammanfattning : Cellular DNA is continuously being damaged by various agents of both endogenous and exogenous origin including a wide range of chemical compounds, UV-light and ionizing radiation. In order to remove lesions from the DNA and maintain genomic stability, different repair processes have evolved. LÄS MER
