    Sammanfattning : The current thesis discusses how tools for analysing power are developed predominately for adults, and thus remain underdeveloped in terms of understanding injustices related to age, ethnicity/race and gender in childhoods. The overall ambition of this dissertation is to inscribe a discourse of intersecting social injustices as relevant for childhoods and child welfare, and by interlinking postcolonial, feminist, and critical childhood studies.     Sammanfattning : This thesis has three main objectives: first, to estimate age-specific levels, age patterns and period trends in early mortality at national and sub-national levels in Eritrea; second, to investigate the major possible determinants of infant and child mortality; and third to discuss implications of the main findings for health policy and future research directions.The data used for this study come from the 1995 Eritrea Demographic and Health Survey of 5,469 households and 5,054 women in the reproductive age span.     Sammanfattning : According to the regulations contained in the Social Services Act (SFS 2001:453), Swedish social services have a legal responsibility to provide support, care, and treatment for individuals with substance use problems.  This law mandate those who are responsible to provide treatment to motivate drug users to actively seek treatment on a voluntary basis, ensuring an end to their dependence on drugs.
