1. Multifunctional Carbon Foams by Emulsion Templating : Synthesis, Microstructure, and 3D Li-ion Microbatteries
Sammanfattning : Carbon foams are among the existing electrode designs proposed for use in 3D Li-ion microbatteries. For such electrodes to find applications in practical microbatteries, however, their void sizes, specific surface areas and pore volumes need be optimized. LÄS MER
2. Preparation and Characterization of Lead Halide Perovskites : Towards sustainable, cost-effective and upscalable solar cell manufacture
Sammanfattning : The perovskite solar cell (PSC) is a recent contender within the photovoltaic research field. In a matter of a few years, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of the PSC has catapulted from 4% to above 22%, which represents one of the fastest developments in the field. LÄS MER
3. Photocatalytic TiO2 thin films for air cleaning : Effect of facet orientation, chemical functionalization, and reaction conditions
Sammanfattning : Poor indoor air quality is a source of adverse health effects. TiO2 coatings deposited on well-illuminated surfaces, such as window panes, can be used to fully mineralize indoor air pollutants by photocatalysis. LÄS MER
4. Simulating ion transport in electrolyte materials with physics-based and machine-learning models
Sammanfattning : Electrolytes are indispensable components of electrochemical devices such as batteries, fuel cells, and supercapacitors, and the mass transport in electrolytes is one of the most important design focuses of such devices. A microscopic picture of ion transport is essential to link the chemical properties of electrolyte materials to their electrochemical applications. LÄS MER
5. Reasoning with thermal cameras : Framing and meaning-making in naturalistic settings in higher education
Sammanfattning : In this Licentiate thesis, framed by the Resources framework and Social semiotics, I explore how students and instructors, investigating thermal phenomena with IR cameras, come to conceptually and epistemologically frame the naturalistic settings they participate in. Additionally, I look at how they productively employ resources , what barriers they encounter while reasoning about the thermal phenomena and how the semiotic resources of the IR camera relate to the framing and resources employed in their investigations.
