  1. 11. Exploring Electron Transfer Dynamics of Novel Dye Sensitized Photocathodes : Towards Solar Cells and Solar Fuels

    Författare :Lei Zhang; Leif Hammarström; Yiying Wu; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Electron transfer; Laser spectroscopy; Femtosecond spectroscopy; Transient absorption; NiO; DSSCs; DSSFDs; Charge separation; Solar energy conversion; Nanosecond photolysis; Photophysics; Kemi med inriktning mot kemisk fysik; Chemistry with specialization in Chemical Physics;

    Sammanfattning : The design of dyes for NiO-based dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) has drawn attention owing to their potential applications in photocatalysis and because they are indispensable for the development of tandem dye-sensitized solar cells. The understanding of the electron transfer mechanisms and dynamics is beneficial to guide further dye design and further improve the performance of photocathode in solar cells and solar fuel devices. Författare :Marcus Rasmusson; Kemisk fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kemi; Chemistry; cross-correlation function; chloroiodomethane; dihalides; bromobenzene; ion pairs; solvation; vibrational relaxation; charge-transfer; tetranitromethane; electron transfer; femtosecond spectroscopy; dissociation; Photochemistry; Fotokemi; Chemical technology and engineering; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi;

    Sammanfattning : The reaction dynamics of several polyatomic systems have been investigated in solution by femtosecond spectroscopy. Tetranitromethane-naphtalene complexes excited in the charge-transfer band at 400 nm undergo dissociative electron transfer, resulting in three primary products: [naphthalene].+, NO2 and C(NO2)3-. 4. 14. Fingerprints of light-induced molecular transients : from quantum chemical models of ultrafast x-ray spectroscopy

    Författare :Jesper Norell; Michael Odelius; Sang-Kil Son; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; time-resolved x-ray spectroscopy; quantum chemistry; electronic structure; multi-configurational self-consistent field; density functional theory; molecular dynamics; Born-Oppenheimer dynamics; non-adiabatic dynamics; proton-transfer; charge-transfer; solvatization; Dyson orbital; teoretisk fysik; Theoretical Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Absorption of sunlight generates renewable electricity and powers the growth of plants, but also causes severe damage both to synthetic materials and biological tissue. The wildly varying outcomes of these light-induced processes are ultimately determined by much slighter differences in their underlying reaction pathways, induced by the transient properties of short-lived and miniscule molecules; a powerful approach to their detection and characterization is offered by ultrafast x-ray spectroscopy, with identification of spectral fingerprints and further guidance from quantum chemical models. 5. 15. Electron and Energy Transfer in Supramolecular Complexes Designed for Artificial Photosynthesis

    Författare :Helena Berglund Baudin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Physics; artificial photosynthesis; electron transfer; energy transfer; ruthenium; manganese; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; Physical Chemistry; fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : In the society of today the need for alternative energy sources is increasing. The construction of artificial devices for the conversion of sunlight into electricity or fuel seems very attractive from an environmental point of view, since these devices are based on processes that does not necessarily generate any harmful biproducts.
