6. On Compression and Coordination in Networks
Sammanfattning : The current trends in communications suggest that the transfer of information between machines will soon predominate over the traditional human-oriented exchange. The new applications in machine-to-machine communications demand for a new type of networks that are much larger and, especially, much denser. LÄS MER
7. Supra-threshold hearing loss and wide dynamic range compression
Sammanfattning : Cochlear hearing loss leads to deficits in many perceptual aspects, including threshold elevation (loss of sensitivity), reduction of auditory dynamic range (loudness recruitment) and problems with resolving sounds (loss of supra-threshold hearing). An ongoing debate is whether assessment of the individual supra-threshold hearing provides information which is likely to have an important influence on clinical decisions on signal processing strategies. 8. Cell activation and nerve regeneration following peripheral nerve injury
Sammanfattning : The effect of short time vibration exposure and tourniquet compression on nerve regeneration in rats was studied with special reference to cell activation. One of the hindlimbs was conditioned by either vibration exposure (5 hours / day - 5 consecutive days) or compression (150-300 mmHg for 30-120 minutes), which was followed by a recovery period of 0-7 days. 9. Foam-formed Fiber Networks: Manufacturing, Characterization, and Numerical Modeling : With a Note on the Orientation Behavior of Rod-like Particles in Newtonian Fluids
Sammanfattning : Fiber networks are ubiquitous and are seen in both industrial materials (paper and nonwovens) and biological materials (plant cells and animal tissues). Nature intricately manipulates these network structures by varying their density, aggregation, and fiber orientation to create a variety of functionalities. LÄS MER
10. Stiffness of reverse channel connections at room and elevated temperatures
Sammanfattning : A frame structure exposed to fire undergoes two types of changes due to the resulting temperature fields. The first is the thermal expansion of the structural members and the second is the degradation of the material strength and stiffness as temperature rises. LÄS MER
