  1. 11. Immunobiochemical significance of Trypanosoma rangeli in the study of Trypanosoma cruzi

    Författare :Azael Patiño Saldaña; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Trypanosoma rangeli is a haemoflagellate that infects humans nonpathogenically in some areas in which T. cruzi, the causative agent of Chagas' disease, is endemic. Since common biological and immunochemical characteristics have been described for these parasites, a detailed study of their relationship is needed. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Genome and transcriptome studies of the protozoan parasites Trypanosoma cruzi and Giardia intestinalis

    Författare :Oscar Franzén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Trypanosoma cruzi and Giardia intestinalis are two human pathogens and protozoan parasites responsible for the diseases Chagas disease and giardiasis, respectively. Both diseases cause su ering and illness in several million individuals. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Methods and applications in DNA sequence alignments

    Författare :Ellen Sherwood; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :DNA sequence alignment; CNV; Chicken; Trypanosoma cruzi.;

    Sammanfattning : DNA sequence alignment is one of the most common bioinformatics tasks. Alignment analysis for eukaryotic genomes is challenging because the datasets are large. Repeat sequences also make the analysis difficult. This thesis describes new methods which we have developed for DNA sequence alignment that address these problems. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Trypanosoma cruzi genome plasticity and evolution

    Författare :Carlos Talavera-López; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Trypanosoma cruzi, a protozoan from the Kinetoplastidae family, is the etiologic agent of Chagas disease, a major public health problem affecting mostly the poorest areas of Latin America. Due to the complex nature of the parasite’s genome it has been impossible to produce a complete reference genome sequence, thus hampering the implementation of post- genomic approaches to unveil the mechanisms of generation of antigenic variation and the identification of new drug targets. 5. 15. Genome characterisation and mobility investigation in trypanosomes

    Författare :Carole Branche; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Trypanosoma brucei - Trypanosoma cruzi - karyotype - genome organisation -flageflum mobility - RNAi - functional studies.;

    Sammanfattning : Trypanosomes are uni-flagellated protozoa responsible for some of the most debilitating human infections such as Chagas disease (Trypanosoma cruzi) and sleeping sickness (Trypanosoma brucei). Unravelling their genome organisation and their biology would improve our basic knowledge and could contribute to find new drug target specific to the species. LÄS MER
