  1. 1. Cervical cancer prevention : studies on outcome of cervical screening and on management of abnormal cytology findings

    Författare :Lena Silfverdal; Sven Törnberg; Ulf Högberg; Pekka Nieminen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cervical cancer; screening programme; effectiveness; risk factors; cytological screening history; management abnormal Pap smear; treatment; nationwide population-based case-control study; Obstetrics and gynaecology; Obstetrik och gynekologi; Epidemiology; epidemiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background Screening by cytology has been highly effective in reducing the incidence and mortality from squamous invasive cervical cancer (ICC), but the effectiveness is less established regarding non-squamous ICC and regarding women above screening ages and below 30 years of age. Cervical cancer still occurs despite the presence of an organised screening programme. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Cervical screening with primary HPV : from research to clinical effectiveness

    Författare :Lovisa Bergengren; Gisela Helenius; Mats Karlsson; Matts Olovsson; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cervical cancer; screening; human papillomavirus HPV ; HPV prevalence; HPV genotypes; precancerous lesion; HSIL; self-sampling; postmenopausal women; health economy;

    Sammanfattning : Organized cervical screening has greatly reduced the incidence of cervical cancer where implemented. Human papilloma virus (HPV) is the cause of cervical cancer, and in later years, convincing evidence has led to cervical screening with HPV as the primary method being implemented around the world. Sammanfattning : Women afflicted with cervical cancer who have the highest morbidity and mortality rates have been the least likely to be screened. The overall aim of this research project was to investigate non-attendance in a cervical cancer screening (CCS) program among women with no registered cervical smear during the previous five years. Sammanfattning : Cervical cancer is a disease that annually claims the lives of over a quarter of a million women. A substantial number of these deaths could be prevented if population wide cancer screening, based on the Papanicolaou test, were globally available. The Papanicolaou test involves a visual review of cellular material obtained from the uterine cervix. LÄS MER
