  1. 1. Experimental cardiopulmonary cerebral resuscitation : with special reference to cerebral eicosanoid production and free radical scavengers

    Författare :Xiaoli Liu; Marianne Forsman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anaesthesiology and intensive care; cerebral resuscitation; reperfusion damage; oxidative injury; eicosanoid; free radical scavenger; neurological function; alkaline buffer; S-PBN; PBN; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthetics and intensive care; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anestesiologi; Anaesthesiology;

    Sammanfattning : Reperfusion injury after restoration of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) is often considered one of the predominant factors in determining neurological outcome in cardiac arrest. Therefore one of the main targets of experimental and clinical studies has been to mitigate this reperfusion injury. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Experimental cardiopulmonary cerebral resuscitation : A study of cerebral perfusion with special reference to the postresuscitation disturbances

    Författare :Ala Nozari; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Cardiac arrest; cardiopulmonary resuscitation; cerebral blood flow; post-resuscitation period; epinephrine; vasopressin; aortic occlusion; isoprostane; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Anestesiologi; Anaesthesiology;

    Sammanfattning : Ischemic neuronal injury continues to be a major delimiting factor in achieving successful clinical outcomesafter resuscitation from cardiac arrest. In this thesis, a pig model of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) wasused to address the effects of different interventions on cerebral blood flow and oxygenation during CPR and theinitial postresuscitation period. 3. 3. Cerebral Perfusion and Metabolism during Experimental Extracorporeal Circulation

    Författare :Ove Jonsson; Stefan Thelin; Fredrik Lennmyr; Sven-Erik Ricksten; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cerebral perfusion; Experimental brain research; Experimentell hjärnforskning; Thoraxkirurgi; Thorax Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Neurologic injuries are major causes of mortality and morbidity after cardiac surgery. This thesis aimed to investigate cerebral metabolism and perfusion abnormalities in pigs during hypothermic circulatory arrest, selective antegrade cerebral perfusion (SACP) and extracorporeal circulation following progressive venous stasis. 4. 4. Clinical Bedside Studies of Cerebral Blood Flow in Severe Subarachnoid Hemorrhage Using Xenon CT

    Författare :Henrik Engquist; Per Enblad; Elham Rostami; Anders Lewén; Marianne Juhler; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Subarachnoid hemorrhage; delayed cerebral ischemia; cerebral blood flow; HHH-therapy; triple-H; xenon CT; XeCT; cerebral microdialysis; Neurokirurgi; Neurosurgery;

    Sammanfattning : Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is frequently complicated by delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI), contributing to poor outcome. Particularly for patients in poor neurological state, prediction of the acute clinical course is difficult, as is the early detection of DCI. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Optical Monitoring of Cerebral Microcirculation

    Författare :Peter Rejmstad; Karin Wårdell; Göran Salerud; Neda Haj-Hosseini; Kerstin Ramser; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; optical monitoring; cerebral microcirculation; diffuse reflectance spectroswcopy DRS ; laser Doppler flowmetry LDF ;

    Sammanfattning : The cerebral microcirculation consists of a complex network of small blood vessels that support nerve cells with oxygen and nutrition. The blood flow and oxygen delivery in the microcirculatory blood vessels are regulated through mechanisms which may be influenced or impaired by disease or brain damage resulting from conditions such as brain tumors, traumatic brain injury or subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH).
