11. Structural changes during cellulose composite processing
Sammanfattning : Two approaches for creating a new all-cellulose composite material have been studied: the biosynthesis of compartmentalised bacterial cellulose fibril aggregates and the compression moulding of commercial chemical wood pulps processed with only water. The objective was to study the structural changes during processing and the complexity of relating the mechanical properties of the final biocomposites to the nanoscale structure was highlighted. 12. Carbon fibres from lignin-cellulose precursors
Sammanfattning : It is in the nature of the human species to find solutions of complex technical problems and always strive for improvements. The development of new materials is not an exception. One of the many man-made materials is carbon fibre (CF). LÄS MER
13. Manufacturing and Characterization of Cellulose Nanofibers
Sammanfattning : The usage of wood has been a dominant driving force during the evolution of the human species. It allowed us to cook food, build tools, put roofs over our head and explore the world. The fibers making up the tree has been the most important way to store and transmit knowledge in the form of paper for centuries. LÄS MER
14. Electric interactions: A study of cellulose
Sammanfattning : This work is primary about development and application of electrostatic theory within the atomistic domain. The resulting procedures were implemented to eventually describe systems involving the cellulose molecule. A concluding remark about electrostatic interactions is the importance of moment cancellation. LÄS MER
15. The kinetics of cellulose enzymatic hydrolysis : Implications of the synergism between enzymes
Sammanfattning : The hydrolysis kinetics of bacterial cellulose and its derivatives by Trichoderma reesei cellulases was studied. The cellulose surface erosion model was introduced to explain the gradual and strong retardation of the rate of enzymatic hydrolysis of cellulose. LÄS MER
