    Sammanfattning : The integrin family of cell surface receptors is evolutionary conserved and found in all multicellular animals. In humans 8-alpha and 18-beta integrins are non-covalently associated into 24 dimers. Integrins mediate cell-extracellular matrix and cell-cell interactions and participate in cell signalling. Sammanfattning : The adaptor protein Shb has been implicated in the signaling of several tyrosine kinase receptors and previous studies have suggested a role for Shb in the signal transduction of T cells. Shb associates with the T cell receptor (TCR) and partakes in the signal propagation of activated T lymphocytes. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Integrins are a family of conserved cell surface receptors found throughout the animal kingdom. They comprise 24 dimers in mammals, and regulate a number of processes including cell survival, differentiation, and migration. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Study of the Proliferation, Function and Death of Insulin-Producing Beta-Cells in vitro: Role of the Transcription Factor ZBED6

    Författare :Xuan Wang; Nils Welsh; Nils Billestrup; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : A thorough understanding of beta-cell proliferation, function, death and regeneration under normal condition as well as in the progression of diabetes is crucial to the conquest of this disease. The work presented in this thesis aimed to investigate the expression and role of a novel transcription factor, Zinc finger BED domain-containing protein 6 (ZBED6), in beta-cells. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The Tyrosine Kinase GTK : Signal Transduction and Biological Function

    Författare :Cecilia Annerén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Protein tyrosine kinases; GTK; SHB; proliferation; survival; differentiation; β cells; pancreatectomy; cytokines; diabetes; PC12 cells; NGF; streptozotocin; focal adhesion kinase; RAP1; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; medicinsk cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Protein tyrosine kinases play an important role in the regulation of various cellular processes such asgrowth, differentiation and survival. GTK, a novel SRC-like cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase, was recently cloned from a mouse insulinoma cell line and the present work was conducted in order to find a biological function of GTK in insulin producing and neuronal cells.
