  1. 1. Regulation of Mast Cell Survival

    Författare :Christine Möller; Gunnar Nilsson; Alf Grandien; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pathology; mast cell; A1; Bfl-1; Bim; Bcl-2 family members; basophil; SCF; forkhead; survival; Patologi; Pathology; Patologi;

    Sammanfattning : Mast cells are long-lived effector cells of importance for both acute and chronic inflammations. Mast cells can be activated in many different ways, leading to the release of inflammatory mediators. In contrast to most other inflammatory cells, activated mast cells have the capacity to recover, regranulate and thereby be activated again. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Adhesion Dependent Signals : Cell Survival, Receptor Crosstalk and Mechanostimulation

    Författare :Anjum Riaz; Staffan Johansson; Bengt Hallberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Integrins; Signal transduction; Protein kinase B; Akt; PI3K; Heparanase; ROS; Mechanosignalling; Molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology; Biology with specialization in Molecular Cell Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär cellbiologi; Cellforskning; Cell Research;

    Sammanfattning : The integrin family of cell surface receptors is evolutionary conserved and found in all multicellular animals. In humans 8-alpha and 18-beta integrins are non-covalently associated into 24 dimers. Integrins mediate cell-extracellular matrix and cell-cell interactions and participate in cell signalling. 3. 3. Cell therapy for denervated tissue

    Författare :Roine El-Habta; Ludvig J. Backman; Paul J. Kingham; Patrik Danielson; António Salgado; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adipose tissue-derived stem cell; cell therapy; denervation; differentiation; myoblast; peripheral nerve injury; proliferation; regeneration; skeletal muscle; stromal vascular fraction; survival; tendon; cellforskning; cell research; Medical Cell Biology; medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Peripheral nerve injury results in denervation of tendons and muscles. The biology of denervated muscle has been well studied but little is known about the associated tendons. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The Tyrosine Kinase GTK : Signal Transduction and Biological Function

    Författare :Cecilia Annerén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Protein tyrosine kinases; GTK; SHB; proliferation; survival; differentiation; β cells; pancreatectomy; cytokines; diabetes; PC12 cells; NGF; streptozotocin; focal adhesion kinase; RAP1; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; medicinsk cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Protein tyrosine kinases play an important role in the regulation of various cellular processes such asgrowth, differentiation and survival. GTK, a novel SRC-like cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase, was recently cloned from a mouse insulinoma cell line and the present work was conducted in order to find a biological function of GTK in insulin producing and neuronal cells. 5. 5. Measurement of sensitivity to DNA damaging agents

    Författare :Sherin T Mathew; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; intrinsic sensitivity; DNA damage; ionizing radiation; cell division;

    Sammanfattning : There is a large inter-individual variation in intrinsic sensitivity in patients receiving treatment with DNA damaging agents. Cancer therapy exemplifies this problem where patients experience varying degree of normal tissue side effects in response to radiation or chemotherapy. LÄS MER
