  1. 1. Searching for Synergy : Radiosensitization of 177Lu-DOTATATE

    Författare :Sara Lundsten; Marika Nestor; Hanna Björkelund; Katarina Edwards; Julie Nonnekens; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cancer; targeted radionuclide therapy; radiosensitization; p53; MDM2 MDM4 inhibition; HSP90; drug synergy; drug delivery; lipid nanoparticles; lipodisks; Biomedical Radiation Science; Biomedicinsk strålningsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Cancers presents a major health challenge, and there is a pressing need to develop new therapeutic strategies. Surgery, chemotherapy and radiation are the most commonly used treatments for cancer today. Radiation can be given as targeted radionuclide therapy (TRT), i.e. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Heparan sulfate dependent cell signaling and associated pathophysiology : Implications in tumorigenesis and embryogenesis

    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Heparanase; Glucuronyl-C5 epimerase; Heparan Sulfate; Heparin; Lung Cancer; Cancer cell Singling; TGF-Beta; BMP; VEGF; Notch Signaling; Tumor growth; Metastasis; embryonic development; Medical Biochemistry; Medicinsk biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs) consist of a protein core to which several linear, negatively charged heparan sulfate (HS) chains are covalently attached. HSPGs are expressed on the cell surface and in the extra-cellular matrix (ECM) where they have diverse biological functions, for example co-receptor functions. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Downstream effects of master regulators in two brain diseases

    Författare :Sebastian Braun; Stamcellscentrum (SCC); []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rett syndrome; brain tumor development; gene regulation; neural stem cells; cell of origin; BMI1;

    Sammanfattning : In paper one, we investigated how the pharmacological activation and inhibition of the glucocorticoid system affects lifespan and symptoms in a mouse model for RTT. We performed a long-term drug treatment study with the GR activator corticosterone and the GR inhibitor RU486 under which we measured the lifespan and onset of RTT-like symptoms of male Mecp2-null and female Mecp2 heterozygous mice in comparison to untreated mutant and to treated and untreated wild-type animals. 4. 4. Application of a New Logic to Old Drugs: Angiogenesis Inhibition in Neuroblastoma

    Författare :Åsa Svensson; Rolf Christofferson; Per Kogner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell biology; angiogenesis; neuroblastoma; CHS 828; digoxin; combination treatment; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology; medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Neuroblastoma is one of the most common solid cancers of early childhood. In Sweden, approximately 10-15 cases occur annually. The overall five-year neuroblastoma survival in Europe is approximately 45%. Since cancer treatment involves drugs with risks of side effects in the growing child, there is a need for more effective and less toxic drugs. LÄS MER

  5. 5. p63 – from expression to function : studies of normal oral mucosa and squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck

    Författare :Niklas Thurfjell; Karin Nylander; Phillip Coates; Göran Roos; Luisa Guerrini; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; p63; SCCHN; p53; BRCA1; Pathology; Patologi;

    Sammanfattning : The human p63 gene discovered in 1997 encodes a series of protein isoforms that differ in their N- and/or C-terminal sequences. These isoforms have widely differing properties in promoting or repressing p53-related functions such as growth arrest and apoptosis. LÄS MER
