1. Biosynthesis of decorin and glypican glycosaminoglycan chains
Sammanfattning : Proteoglycans consist of core proteins substituted with glycosaminoglycan chains. The galactosaminoglycans (GlcUA/IdoUA-GalNAc) and the glucosaminoglycans (GlcUA/IdoUA-GlcNAc) are both initiated on the same tetrasaccharide linkage region GlcUA-Gal-Gal-Xyl-protein. LÄS MER
2. Characterization of Novel Solute Carriers in Humans, Mice and Flies : Solute Carriers in a Broad and Narrow Perspective
Sammanfattning : The solute carrier family is the largest family of membrane-bound transporters in humans, with 430 members divided into 65 subfamilies. They transport various substrates across lipid barriers and are vital for absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion in all cell types in the body. LÄS MER
3. Regulation of glycerol efflux in adipocytes. Structural and functional studies of the glycerol channel aquaporin 7
Sammanfattning : Glycerol levels in adipocytes depend on the lipolysis, the hydrolysis of triglycerides into glycerol and free fatty acids, and the efflux of glycerol across the plasma membrane through glycerol channels. The aims of this work were to investigate how glycerol levels are regulated on a molecular level by PLIN1, a major lipid droplet-associated protein and a key regulator of the lipolysis by scaffolding for lipolytic proteins on the lipid droplet. 4. Solute Carriers in Metabolism : Regulation of known and putative solute carriers in the central nervous system
Sammanfattning : Solute carriers (SLCs) are membrane-bound transporter proteins, important for nutrient, ion, drug and metabolite transport across membranes. A quarter of the human genome codes for membrane-bound proteins, and SLCs make up the largest group of transporter proteins. LÄS MER
5. Separation Methods in Membrane Proteomics -Integration of Aqueous Two-Phase Partitioning for Enrichment and Pre-Fractionation
Sammanfattning : The study of the protein complement of a genome is called proteomics. Proteomics can be defined as identification, quantification and characterization of a total set of proteins expressed at different time-points or under different cellular states to provide global information about biological processes.
