    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; proximity ligation; in situ; high content screening; platelet-derived growth factor receptor; rolling circle amplification; protein interactions; in situ PLA; post-translational modifications; drug screening; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular medicine genetics and pathology ; Molekylär medicin genetik och patologi ; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : In 2001 the human proteome organization (HUPO) was created with the ambition to identify and characterize all proteins encoded in the human genome according to several criteria; their expression levels in different tissues and under different conditions; the sub-cellular localization; post-translational modifications; interactions, and if possible also the relationship between their structure and function.When the knowledge of different proteins and their potential interactions increases, so does the need for methods able to unravel the nature of molecular processes in cells and organized tissues, and ultimately for clinical use in samples obtained from patients. 2. 2. Bioactivity of Medicinal Bolivian Andean plants. Effects on cell proliferation and related processes

    Författare :Gloria Rodrigo; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bolivian medicinal plants; colon cancer; cell proliferation; DNA synthesis; apoptosis; caspase-3; sesquiterpene; curcuphenol; damsin; coronopilin;

    Sammanfattning : Colon cancer is common in both developed and developing countries, and is responsible for at least 600,000 deaths globally every year. It is therefore the second most common cause of cancer-related mortality. Extensive studies are being conducted worldwide to find more effective drugs that can be used in cancer treatment. LÄS MER

  3. 3. On the role of signaling pathways in the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis

    Författare :Johan Stenberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Osteoarthritis; Signalling pathways; proteomics; genomics; GDF5; Wnt;

    Sammanfattning : The problem with degenerating cartilage tissues is one of the major causes for disability worldwide. The aetiology of the cartilage degenerating disease osteoarthritis is elusive and considered to be multifactorial. The aim of the present thesis was to find new hypotheses regarding the aetiology of osteoarthritis with focus on signalling pathways. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Plasminogen : a pleiotropic inflammatory regulator in radiation-induced wound formation and wound repair

    Författare :Mahsa Fallah; Tor Ny; Malgorzata Wilczynska; Robert Medcalf; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The plasminogen activator (PA) system plays important roles in many physiological and pathological processes, including inflammation and wound healing. Plasmin, the central component of the PA system, is a broad-spectrum serine protease that is derived from its inactive precursor form, plasminogen. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Plasminogen in periodontitis and wound repair

    Författare :Rima Sulniute; Tor Ny; Daniel A Lawrence; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The plasminogen activator (PA) system plays a critical role in many physiological and pathological processes, such as fibrinolysis, extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation, wound healing, inflammation, and cancer. The key component of the PA system is plasmin, a broad-spectrum serine protease that is derived from its inactive form, plasminogen. LÄS MER
