  1. 1. Unique Solutions to Universal Problems : Studies of the Archaeal Cell

    Författare :Erik A. Pelve; Rolf Bernander; Sonja Verena Albers; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Archaea; Cdv; Cell cycle; Cell division; Cell lysis; Crenarchaea; ESCRT-III; Flow cytometry; Microarray; Microscopy; Nitrosopumilus; SIRV2; Sulfolobus; Thaumarchaea; Transcription; VAP; Virus; Biology with specialization in Molecular Evolution; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär evolution;

    Sammanfattning : Archaea is one of the three domains of life and studies of archaeal biology are important for understanding of life in extreme environments, fundamental biogeochemical processes, the origin of life, the eukaryotic cell and their own, unique biology. This thesis presents four studies of the archaeal cell, using the extremophilic Sulfolobus and ocean living Nitrosopumilus as model systems. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Cardiomyocyte Cell Cycle, Renewal and Isolation

    Författare :Stuart Walsh; Stamcellscentrum (SCC); []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; binucleation; Cardiomyocytes; surface marker; troponin-T; mitosis; microarray; cell cycle; FACS;

    Sammanfattning : Heart disease results from the loss of cardiomyocytes following myocardial damage and is a leading cause of death worldwide. Stimulating the endogenous regeneration of cardiomyocytes or isolating them from in vitro culture is an attractive therapeutic strategy. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Cell cycle regulation in cancer: A noncoding perspective

    Författare :Mohamad Ali; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Long Noncoding RNA; lncRNA; Cell cycle; S phase; Mitosis; Checkpoint; Cancer; SCAT7; LY6K-AS;

    Sammanfattning : The cell cycle progression is tightly regulated to ensure error-free cell replication. The complexity of the transcriptional machinery aids to function in a spatiotemporal pattern across different phases and genomic loci. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Identification of Unique Hematopoietic Stem Cell Properties

    Författare :Jens Nygren; Lunds universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Cardiovascular system; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor; Haematology; extracellular fluids; cell cycle; fusion; transdifferentiation; plasticity; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ; quiescence; hematopoietic stem cell; self-renewal;

    Sammanfattning : Hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) are sufficient and required for life long production of all blood cell lineages. Steady state HSCs are largely quiescent and we demonstrate that the kinetics of HSC cell cycling are slower compared to more committed progenitor cells also during expansion and self-renewal ex vivo and in physiological conditions. 5. 5. Spatiotemporal characterization of the human proteome

    Författare :Diana Mahdessian; Emma Lundberg; Arne Lindqvist; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Spatial proteomics; Spatiotemporal proteomics; Immunofluorescence; Human Protein Atlas; Cell compartments; Single cell proteomics; Cell cycle; Cancer;

    Sammanfattning : Characterizing the molecular components of the basic unit of life; the cell, is crucial for a complete understanding of human biology. The cell is divided into compartments to create a suitable environment for the resident proteins to fulfill their functions. LÄS MER
