  1. 6. Growth and Business Cycles -Swedish Manufacturing Industry 1952-2001

    Författare :Camilla Josephson; Lennart Schön; Deirdre Nansen MC Closkey; Ekonomisk-historiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Ekonomisk och social historia; Social and economic history; Nutidshistoria från 1914 ; Contemporary history since 1914 ; Manufacturing industry; Institutional change; Knowledge accumulation; Opportunity costs; The cointegrated VAR model; Business cycles; Economic growth; TFP growth; Cyclical economics; Konjunkturteori; cykliska förlopp; Contemporary history;

    Sammanfattning : This study shows that the mechanisms behind knowledge accumulation and the sources of productivity growth differ from industry to industry depending on what is produced and what technology is used. Although it is apparent to most researchers in the field that the only way to explain long-run growth in output per capita is through technological progress and accumulation of knowledge that counteract the dampening effect of diminishing returns, we are still in the dark about how such mechanisms operate. 2. 7. Metabolic responsiveness to growth hormone in children

    Författare :Ralph Decker; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Individualized treatment; Growth hormone; Hormonal responsiveness; Metabolic outcome; Prediction model; Body composition; Insulin sensitivity; Leptin; Proteomics SELDI; Apolipoproteins; Thresholds of growth hormone effects; Protein patterns;

    Sammanfattning : Metabolic effects of growth hormone (GH) therapy in short children have not been clearly established owing to the previous lack of controlled trials studying the metabolic outcome in response to different GH doses despite the known effects of GH on insulin sensitivity, lipid profile, and body composition. It has previously been shown that individualized GH doses during catch-up growth significantly reduce the proportion of unexpectedly good and poor responders around a predefined individual growth target in short prepubertal children. 4. 9. Ekonomisk tillväxt i välfärdskapitalismen : En jämförande studie av BNP per capita-tillväxten i rika OECD-länder 1970-2000

    Sammanfattning : In the early 1990s, Sweden was hit by a profound economic crisis. The Swedish crisis of the nineties was not perceived as a temporary recession, but rather as a fundamental and systemic fault in Swedish economy. Many commentators held that the Swedish model with a large welfare state and high taxes had impaired Sweden's economic performance. LÄS MER

  5. 10. The role of apoptosis in growth plate cartilage during normal and abnormal growth

    Författare :Dionisios Chrysis; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Apoptosis; growth plate; dexamethasone; cytokines;

    Sammanfattning : Longitudinal bone growth occurs at the growth plate where resting chondrocytes proliferate, differentiate into a hypertrophic form, and finally become terminal hypertrophic chondrocytes before giving rise to bone. Because growth occurs when proliferation exceeds cell death, alterations in cell death by apoptosis, which is essential for the maintenance of tissue homeostasis, could affect growth. LÄS MER
