1. Near field immobilization of selenium oxyanions
Sammanfattning : The topic of this doctoral thesis is the potential near field immobilization of the radionuclide 79Se after intrusion of groundwater into a spent nuclear fuel canister in a repository. 79Se is a non naturally occurring long lived selenium isotope formed as a result of fission in nuclear fuel. 2. Immobilizing catalysts on textiles : case of zerovalent iron and glucose oxidase enzyme
Sammanfattning : Catalytic systems are one of the most effective technologies of modern chemical processes. The system uses a molecule called ‘catalyst’ that is capable of catalyzing a reaction without being produced or consumed during the process. LÄS MER
3. Flavins as Biomimetic Catalysts for Sulfoxidation by H2O2 : Catalyst Immobilization in Ionic Liquid for H2O2 Oxidations
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the development of catalytic oxidation reactions utilizing hydrogen peroxide as terminal oxidant. The main focus has been to find flavin catalysts that are easy to handle and stable to store but still able to perform the desired reaction. LÄS MER
4. Mononuclear Ruthenium Complexes that Catalyze Water to Dioxgen Oxidation
Sammanfattning : The theme of this thesis is the development of mononuclear Ru-based complexes that are capable of catalyzing the water oxidation (or O2-evolving) reaction, e.g. 2 H2O → O2 + 4 H+ + 4 e−. Several families of mononuclear Ru water oxidation catalysts were designed and prepared. LÄS MER
5. Development of Biomimetic Catalytic Systems for Selective Oxidations with H2O2 and O2
Sammanfattning : Four different catalytic systems were studied for biomimetic coupled oxidations using H2O2 or O2. In the first example, osmium tetroxide works as a substrate-selective catalyst for dihydroxylation of olefins. Electron transfer to H2O2 is facilitated by electron transfer mediators (ETMs). LÄS MER
