    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the thesis was to illuminate main concerns related to the transition of adolescents/ emerging adults with Type 1 diabetes to adult life and diabetes care and to gain a deeper understanding of how care providers, patients and their parents handle this situation. In paper I and II, participant observations of visits to physicians, nurses and group sessions (n=51) were conducted in two paediatric (PDC) and two adult (ADC) diabetes clinics as well as interviews with care providers (n=10).     Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on glycemic control measured as HbA1c in type 1 diabetes (T1D) patients during childhood and especially during adolescence, both in a Swedish and an international context, and relates the glycemic control to the risk of complications in young adults.  In studies I and II, the Swedish Pediatric Diabetes Quality Register (SWEDIABKIDS) and the Swedish National Diabetes Register (NDR) were used.     Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aim of this thesis was to explore the everyday life experiences of living with Home Mechanical Ventilation (HMV) from the perspective of the children and their siblings, parents and personal care assistants.Methods: Study I describes the experiences of personal care assistants (PCA) working with a ventilator-assisted person at home, based on qualitative content analysis according to Elo and Kyngäs (2008), of 15 semi-structured interviews.     Sammanfattning : Parents of children with a chronic disease are usually highly involved in their child’s treatment and may be affected by the heavy demands and constant stress. This can increase the risk of developing burnout, which is an individual reaction to long-term stress consisting of symptoms associated with emotional exhaustion, as well as physical and cognitive fatigue.     Sammanfattning : Premature infants are at greater risk for both short- and long-term negative outcomes than infants born at full term.
