  1. 1. Physical Activity and Cardiovascular Disease

    Författare :Kasper Andersen; Johan Sundström; Claes Held; Frieder Braunschweig; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Physical activity; epidemiology; cohort study; heart failure; cardiovascular disease; arrhythmias; atrial fibrillation; bradyarrhythmias; sudden cardiac death; heart failure; stroke; ischemic heart disease; cardiovascular death; maximal exercise capacity; muscle strength; skeletal muscle morphology; Kardiologi; Cardiology; Epidemiology; Epidemiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim was to investigate associations of fitness and types and levels of physical activity with subsequent risk of cardiovascular disease.Four large-scale longitudinal cohort studies were used. The exposures were different measures related to physical activity and the outcomes were obtained through linkage to the Swedish In-Patient Register. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Smokeless Tobacco (Snus) and Cardiovascular Disease : Associations with Heart Failure and Prognosis after Myocardial Infarction

    Författare :Gabriel Arefalk; Johan Sundström; Martin Holzmann; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Snus; smokeless tobacco; nicotine; cardiovascular disease; heart failure; myocardial infarction; mortality; prognosis; epidemiology; Epidemiologi; Epidemiology;

    Sammanfattning : Previous investigations of snus use (oral moist snuff, a Swedish form of smokeless tobacco) and cardiovascular disease have generally focused on atherosclerotic events such as myocardial infarction and stroke, likely because smoking is such a well-established risk factor for atherosclerotic disease. Smokeless administration of tobacco circumvents most of the atherogenic effects of the combusted products from smoked tobacco, but it is possible that the potent autonomic and hemodynamic effects of snus and nicotine per se are detrimental for cardiovascular tissues. 3. 3. Risk factors for cardiovascular events and incident hospital-treated diabetes in the population

    Författare :Payam Khalili; Peter Nilsson; Johan Jendle; Annika Rosengren; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adiponectin; blood pressure; cardiovascular risk; diabetes; inflammation; pulse pressure; sialic acid; smoking; Medicin; Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death worldwide. Well-established risk factors for CVD include increasing age, male sex, sedentary lifestyle, obesity, smoking, diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidaemia and low socio-economic status. Traditional risk factors do, however, not fully explain cardiovascular risk in general. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Cardiovascular disease and diabetes or renal insufficiency : the risk of ischemic stroke and risk factor intervention

    Författare :Stina Jakobsson; Thomas Mooe; Fredrik Björklund; Joep Perk; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cardiovascular disease; secondary prevention; diabetes mellitus; chronic kidney disease; acute coronary syndrome; stroke; randomized control trial; cardiovascular disease; hjärt- och kärlforskning;

    Sammanfattning : BackgroundIn patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) or chronic kidney disease (CKD), established cardiovascular disease (CVD) is associated with an increased risk of recurrent events and poor outcome. Ischemic stroke after an acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a devastating event that carries high risks of decreased patient independence and death. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Cardiovascular events after acute coronary syndrome with special reference to ischemic stroke

    Författare :Anders Ulvenstam; Thomas Mooe; Bo Carlberg; Per Tornvall; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; Cardiovascular disease; acute coronary syndrome; acute myocardial infarction; ischemic stroke; time trends; risk factors; P2Y12-receptor inhibitor; ticagrelor; major adverse cardiovascular events; revascularization; lipid-lowering therapy; Medicine; medicin; kardiologi; Cardiology;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) encompasses acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and unstable angina (UA). It is a global major cause of morbidity and mortality in both the short and long terms. LÄS MER
