  1. 6. Systemic inflammatory activation during cardiac Surgery. Influence of cardiopulmonary bypass management and patient factors

    Författare :Martin Westerberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :cardiopulmonary bypass; inflammatory response; coagulation; CABG; cardiotomy suction; cytokines;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass is accompanied by a prominent systemic inflammatory and hemostatic activation, which may contribute to postoperative complications. Aims: To investigate if selection of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) system and management of cardiotomy suction (CTS) and mediastinal shed blood (MSB) affect systemic inflammatory response. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Inflammatory system activation during cardiopulmonary bypass : studies on biocompatibility

  3. 8. Protein S-100, inflammatory and haemostatic mediators in paediatric open heart surgery. Influence of clinical variables and a biocompatible cardiopulmonary bypass system

    Författare :Eva Jensen; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cardiopulmonary bypass; biocompatible; S-100; Down s syndrome; inflammatory response; complement; cytokines; PMN elastase; haemostasis; coagulation; fibrinolysis;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is used in most operations when correcting congenital heart malformations. Postoperative neurological problems (temporary or permanent) are complications of the procedure. These neurological injuries, especially if they are minor, are difficult to recognise in small children. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Fibrinogen and Bleeding in Cardiac Surgery: Clinical Studies in Coronary Artery Bypass Patients

    Författare :Martin Karlsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Cardiac surgery; Hemostasis; Cardiopulmonary bypass; Fibrinogen; Bleeding;

    Sammanfattning : Fibrinogen and Bleeding in Cardiac Surgery: Clinical Studies in Coronary Artery Bypass Patients Background: Cardiac surgery is accompanied by inflammatory activation and bleeding complications. Fibrinogen is a key factor in the coagulation cascade and can be used to treat ongoing bleeding, but is not well studied as prophylactic treatment to prevent bleeding in patients with normal plasma fibrinogen levels or as a predictive tool to identify patients with increased bleeding risk. 5. 10. Atrial fibrillation after cardiac surgery : an analysis of risk factors, mechanisms, and survival effects

    Författare :Giovanni Mariscalco; Bengt Åberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; atrial fibrillation; adult; cardiac surgery; coronary artery bypass grafting; valvular surgery; cardiopulmonary bypass; mortalilty; histology; catecholamines; embolism; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Despite the recent improvements in surgical techniques and postoperative patient care, atrial fibrillation (AF) remains the most frequent complication after cardiac surgery. Although postoperative AF is often regarded as a benign clinical condition, this arrhythmia has significant adverse effects on patient recovery and postoperative survival. LÄS MER
