  1. 26. Carbon nanotube/MF composites

    Författare :Liliana Licea Jimenez; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; nanocomposites; carbon nanotubes; melamine-formaldehyde;

    Sammanfattning : A new generation of composites, frequently referred to as nanocomposites, are making research and engineering impact worldwide. Particularly, the incorporation of carbon nanotubes (CNT) into polymers is attractive, due to the generally good processability of polymers and the unprecedented properties of nanotubes. LÄS MER

  2. 27. Carbon sequestration processes in tropical seagrass beds

    Författare :Liberatus Dominick Lyimo; Mats Björk; Martin Gullström; Mariam Hamis; Teresa Alcoverro; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Seagrass; Carbon sequestration; Carbon sink; Eutrophication; Productivity; Nitrous oxide; Methane; Greenhouse gases; Tropical; Eastern Africa; Plant Physiology; växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Seagrass meadows may play a substantial role in climate change mitigation as they are capable to sequester and store substantial amounts of anthropogenic carbon in plant biomass and, more importantly, in their underlying sediments. In this PhD thesis, the carbon-burial potential was assessed by quantifying the amount of organic carbon stored in different seagrass meadows, each dominated by one of the four major seagrass species in the Western Indian Ocean region. 3. 28. Organic carbon dynamics in the Baltic Sea : A modelling perspective

    Författare :Filippa Fransner; Jonas Nycander; Christoph Humborg; Andreas Oschlies; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; carbon cycle; organic carbon; primary production; remineralisation; terrestrial DOC; extracellular DOC; flexible stoichiometry; Redfield ratio; air-sea CO2 exchange; pCO2; coupled 3D physical-biogeochemical modelling; Gulf of Bothnia; Baltic Sea; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : Coastal seas constitute a link between land and the open ocean, and therefore play an important role in the global carbon cycle. Large amounts of carbon, of both terrestrial and marine origin, transit and are transformed in these waters, which belong to the more productive areas of the oceans. LÄS MER

  4. 29. Air-Sea Fluxes of CO2 : Analysis Methods and Impact on Carbon Budget

    Författare :Maria Norman; Anna Rutgersson; Erik Sahlée; William Drennan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; air-sea exchange; carbon dioxide; Baltic Sea; eddy-covariance method; inertial dissipation method; cospectral-peak method; Baltic Sea measurements; CO2 fluxes; Galathea 3 expedition; Baltic Sea modeling; water-side convection; coastal upwelling; carbon budget; Meteorology; Meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : Carbon dioxide (CO2) is an important greenhouse gas, and the atmospheric concentration of CO2 has increased by more than 100 ppm since prior to the industrial revolution.  The global oceans are considered an important sink of atmospheric CO2, since approximately one third of the anthropogenic emissions are absorbed by the oceans. 5. 30. Mechanical properties of carbon nanotubes and nanofibers

    Författare :Henrik Jackman; Krister Svensson; Pavel Krakhmalev; Håkan Olin; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atomic force microscopy; bending; carbon nanotubes; deformation; scanning electron microscopy; Young s modulus; carbon nanofibers; mechanical properties; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have extraordinary electrical and mechanical properties, and many potential applications have been proposed, ranging from nanoscale devices to reinforcement of macroscopic structures. However, due to their small sizes, characterization of their mechanical properties and deformation behaviours are major challenges. LÄS MER
