  1. 21. Carbon exchange in boreal ecosystems: upscaling and the impacts of natural disturbances

    Författare :Julia Kelly; BECC: Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbon fluxes; CH4; Climate change; CO2; Drought; Ecosystem respiration; Forest; Peatland; Remote sensing; Temperature; Thermal camera; UAV; Wildfire;

    Sammanfattning : Boreal forests and peatlands are globally significant carbon stores but they are threatened by rising air temperatures and changes in precipitation regimes and the frequency of natural disturbances. Predicting how the boreal biome will respond to climate change depends on being able to accurately model and upscale the greenhouse gas fluxes between these ecosystems and the atmosphere. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Plant-soil-herbivore interactions in a high Arctic wetland - Feedbacks to the carbon cycle

    Författare :Julie Maria Falk; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic wetlands; carbon balance; herbivory; increased grazing pressure; methane fluxes; muskox exclusion; substrate avalibility; vegetation composition and density;

    Sammanfattning : Arctic ecosystems hold massive amounts of the global carbon in their soils and are of great importance for the global terrestrial exchange of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. The arctic region has in general been acting as a C sink for the past 10000 years, however with climate change the C balance in some areas is shifting towards becoming a C source. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Carbon stock and fluxes in Nyungwe forest and Ruhande Arboretum in Rwanda

    Författare :Donat Nsabimana; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbon stock; Litterfall production; Soil CO2 efflux; or soil respiration; Soil temperature; Soil water content; Spatial variation; Seasonal and diurnal variations;

    Sammanfattning : Conservation and sequestration of carbon in forest ecosystems are potential strategies to reduce or stabilize the atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations and mitigate climate change. Estimating the... LÄS MER

  4. 24. Natural and social dimensions of forest carbon accounting

    Författare :Wilhelm Dubber; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Forest carbon fluxes; REDD ; boreal forest; LPJ-GUESS; BIOME-BGC; remote sensing;

    Sammanfattning : Global forests store large amounts of carbon both in living biomass and in the soil. The ability of forests to counteract climate change by acting as carbon sinks have been recognized in global climate politics, such as the 2015 Paris agreement which calls for national commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. 5. 25. An evaluation of regional sustainability by analysing energy and carbon flows – A study of Jämtland, Sweden

    Författare :Torbjörn Skytt; Bengt-Gunnar Jonsson; Fredrik Ståhl; Magdalena Svanström; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Regional sustainability; Energy flows; Exergy; Carbon GHG fluxes; Sustainability indicators; carbon dioxide emissions; methane emissions; nature emissions;

    Sammanfattning : Models showing the anthropogenic and natural flows of two sustainability indicators; carbon based GHG and energy (as work energy) have been made for the Swedish region Jämtland. The methodology used was inspired by the study sustainability analysis conducted on the small Danish island Samsø using the above two indicators. LÄS MER
