  1. 1. Drivers of carbon sink function in tropical seagrass beds : influence of carbon import, plant composition, seascape configuration and human activities

    Författare :Rashid O. Ismail; Mats Björk; Martin Gullström; Maria E. Asplund; Amelia S. Buriyo; Matern S.P. Mtolera; Teresa Alcoverro; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Carbon sequestration; tropical seagrass meadows; coastal seascape; landscape configuration and transformation; calcification; allochthonous carbon; community respiration; carbon sink; human disturbance; coastal conservation; Plant Physiology; växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Seagrass meadows are effective carbon sinks, sequestering atmospheric CO2 and capturing allochthonous organic material, storing organic carbon (Corg) in their sediments, so called Blue Carbon. In tropical areas, seagrass meadows have a high number of calcareous organisms, which can offset carbon sequestration by releasing CO2 through their calcification. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Fossil Free or Not - That is the Question

    Författare :Torbjörn Skytt; Bengt-Gunnar Jonsson; Monica Odlare; Markku Rummukainen; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fossil free; Carbon balance; Carbon flow; Energy flow; Climate mitigation; Governing climate change; Forest carbon;

    Sammanfattning : This is an evaluation of Jämtland County’s ability to achieve its climate targets to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions with 10% annually, and to become fossil fuel free 2030. There is a risk that the target to become fossil fuel-free, relying primarily on outtake of forest biomass, contradicts with the target in the UN Paris Agreement to keep the global temperature increase below 1. 3. 3. Non-Spherical Particle Interaction in Duct and Jet Flow

    Författare :Ammar Hazim; Matthias Mandø; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Solid-gas flow; turbulence modulation; duct flow; coaxial jets flow; swirl jet flow; active flow control; synthetics jet; biomass powder; non-spherical particles; PIV measurement; Strömningslära; Fluid Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Wood waste is the most popular biomass recourse for many nations. Burned wood can, direct or indirect, release one of the greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide. The process can still be seen as a renewable source of energy since replanting of the trees and crops are consuming nearly the same amount of carbon dioxide through photosynthesis. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Waterborne Carbon in Northern Streams : Controls on dissolved carbon transport across sub-arctic Scandinavia

    Författare :Elin Jantze; Steve W. Lyon; Georgia Destouni; Helen Dahlke; Pirkko Kortelainen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dissolved carbon; DOC; DIC; TOC; sub-arctic; hydrology; Abisko; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : Waterborne carbon (C) forms an active and significant part of the global C cycle, which is important in theArctic where greater temperature increases and variability are anticipated relative to the rest of the globe withpotential implications for the C cycle. Understanding and quantification of the current processes governing themovement of C by connecting terrestrial and marine systems is necessary to better estimate future changes ofwaterborne C. 5. 5. Decarbonization of construction supply chains - Achieving net-zero carbon emissions in the supply chains linked to the construction of buildings and transport infrastructure

    Författare :Ida Karlsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Embodied carbon; Buildings; Emissions reduction; Transport infrastructure; Scenario analysis; Low carbon technology; Carbon abatement; Decarbonization; Construction; Supply chain; Carbon mitigation;

    Sammanfattning : Sweden has committed to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to a net-zero level by Year 2045. In Sweden, about 20% of its annual CO2 emissions are from the manufacture, transport and processing of materials for both the construction and refurbishment of buildings and transport infrastructure.
