1. Landscape from space : geographical aspects on scale, regionalization and change detection
Sammanfattning : Landscapes are complex systems composed of multiscale hierarchically organized entities that interact within unique spatial and temporal scales. These interactions result in scaledependent spatial patterns that visually change depending upon the scale at which they are observed. LÄS MER
2. Electron Heating and Acceleration at Earth’s Collisionless Bow Shock
Sammanfattning : Cosmic rays are ultra-relativistic particles traveling near the speed of light permeating the galaxy. Collisionless shock waves with their ubiquity throughout the universe and excellent capability of accelerating charged particles offer an explanation to the origin of cosmic rays. LÄS MER
3. User involvement in housing recovery : Cases from Haiyan affected areas in the Philippines
Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to develop a better understanding of the relation between housing recovery and user involvement from a capability perspective. The thesis studies housing recovery in areas affected by typhoon Haiyan, which struck the Philippines on 8th November 2013. LÄS MER
4. Realistic simulations of delta wing aerodynamics using novel CFD methods
Sammanfattning : The overall goal of the research presented in this thesis is to extend the physical understanding of the unsteady external aerodynamics associated with highly maneuverable delta-wing aircraft by using and developing novel, more efficient computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools. More specific, the main purpose is to simulate and better understand the basic fluid phenomena, such as vortex breakdown, that limit the performance of delta-wing aircraft. LÄS MER
5. Navigating towards the Safe Operating Space: Systems thinking and the SDGs
Sammanfattning : Can the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals be reached within the Planetary Boundaries? This licentiate thesis aims to explore this question by navigating towards the safe operating space, as defined by the planetary boundaries, through integrating issues, disciplines, scales, models and stakeholders. The thesis is a milestone within the European Union financed project “Adaptation to a New Economic Reality (AdaptEconII)”. LÄS MER
