  1. 1. Hereditary Nonpolyposis Colorectal Cancer - Molecular Genetics and Biology of Associated Tumors

    Författare :Maria Planck; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; endometrial cancer; rectal cancer; colon cancer; mismatch repair protein expression; coding repeats; microsatellite instability; MSH6; MSH2; Hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer; MLH1; small bowel cancer; Cytology; oncology; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on one of the most common types of hereditary cancer, hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC). This syndrome is characterized by an autosomal dominant inheritance, an increased risk for several types of cancer (especially cancer of the colorectum, small bowel, endometrium, ovary and urinary tract), early age at diagnosis, and frequent development of multiple primary malignancies. 2. 2. Dissecting the Microenvironment of Urothelial Bladder Cancer : Therapy, Modelling and Biomarkers

    Författare :Iliana Kyriaki Kerzeli; Sara Mangsbo; Tania de Gruijl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immuno-oncology; Tumor immunology; MALT1 inhibition; Urothelial bladder cancer; Tumor microenvironment; Immunologi; Immunology; Oncology; Onkologi; Urologi; Urology;

    Sammanfattning : The complexity of the tumor microenvironment (TME) impacts therapy responses and the survival of cancer patients. The scope of this thesis is to study the effects of immune modulation on tumor-infiltrating leukocytes, and to explore the TME of urothelial cancer to provide the research society with new knowledge and potential therapeutic targets. 3. 3. Aspects of Progression in Breast Carcinoma : from ductal carcinoma in situ to invasive cancer

    Författare :Wenjing Zhou; Fredrik Wärnberg; Marie-Louise Fjällskog; Carl Blomqvist; Malin Sund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; progression; ductal carcinoma in situ; breast cancer; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : In the past decades our knowledge concerning breast cancer progression from ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) to invasive cancer has grown rapidly. However, molecular factors driving the progression are still largely unknown. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Molecular mechanisms of nerve-tumor interactions : the intersection of cancer and neurodevelopment

    Författare :Luz Maria Gonzalez-Castrillon; Sara I Wilson; Daniel Öhlund; Nisha D’Silva; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Perineural invasion; cancer; PDAC; axonogenesis; neurodevelopment; spinal cord; axon guidance; bioinformatics.; biomedical laboratory science; biomedicinsk laboratorievetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : A wide range of cancers throughout the body are characterized by high nerve density and invasion of cancer cells within the nerves, a process called perineural invasion (PNI). Work in the field has shown that blocking nerves in organs with tumors leads to improved disease outcomes suggesting that finding ways to block tumor nerves could lead to new treatment approaches. 5. 5. Type IV collagen in breast and colorectal cancer : a potential biomarker of metastatic disease

    Författare :Moa Lindgren; Hanna Nyström; Ingrid Ljuslinder; Malin Sund; Kristian Pietras; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Colorectal cancer; colorectal liver metastases; breast cancer; breast cancer metastases; tumor marker; biomarker; stroma; type IV collagen;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) and metastatic breast cancer (mBC) are two leading causes of cancer-related mortality worldwide. Early detection of metastatic disease is critical, and sensitive, easily accessed and cost-effective biomarkers that can diagnose mBC and mCRC at an early stage would have high clinical value. LÄS MER
