1. Some aspects of non-metallic inclusions during vacuum degassing in ladle treatment : with emphasize on liquid CaO-Al2O3 inclusions
Sammanfattning : The present thesis was to study non-metallic inclusions during vacuum degassing in ladle treatment. Emphasize was mostly given to liquid CaO-Al2O3 inclusions. A series of industrial experiments were carried out at Uddeholm Tooling AB, Hagfors, Sweden. To gain an insight into the industrial findings, laboratory investigations were also performed. LÄS MER
2. Parameters influencing inclusion compositions in Al-killed steel melts during a secondary refining process
Sammanfattning : This study was carried out to clarify the factors influencing the evolution of inclusions in Al-killed steel melts during a secondary refining process. First, a case-hardening steel was the subject of study to understand the factors influencing the inclusion compositions in the steel melt. LÄS MER
3. Pyrolysis of mixed plastics and paper to produce fuels and other chemicals
Sammanfattning : As the world population and economy grow, higher consumption results in higher waste packaging, plastics and paper residues. Pyrolysis offers a way to recover fuels and other chemicals from this waste fraction. LÄS MER
4. Sustainable Aluminum and Iron Production
Sammanfattning : Aluminium recycling requires 95% less energy than primary production with no loss of quality. The Black Dross (BD) produced during secondary aluminium production contains high amounts of water-soluble compounds, therefore it is considered as a toxic waste. LÄS MER
5. Bio-coal as an alternative reducing agent in the blast furnace
Sammanfattning : The steel industry is aiming to reduce CO2 emissions by different means; in the short-term, by replacing fossil coal with highly reactive carbonaceous material like bio-coal (pretreated biomass) and, in the longer term, by using hydrogen. The use of bio-coal as part of top charged briquettes also containing iron oxide has the potential to lower the thermal reserve zone temperature of the Blast furnace (BF) and, due to improved gas efficiency, thereby give a high replacement ratio to coke.
