  1. 6. Vasomotor symptoms in men and the role of Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide

    Författare :Anna-Clara Spetz; Jan-Erik Damber; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Hot flushes is a cotmnon phenomenon in women during the menopausal transition. In men treated with castration because of prostate cancer, hot flushes are probably the most cotmnon and distressing side-effect and are as common in these men as in menopausal women but the course of the flushes is unknown. 2. 7. Studies on the level of substance P and calcitonin gene-related peptide in cerebrospinal fluid of pregnant women and patients with chronic pain and in rat brain after spinal cord injury : Special reference to analytical aspects of neuropeptides

    Författare :Zhurong Liu; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical biosciences; Substance P; Calcitonin gene-related peptide; Radioimmunoassay; High performance liquidchromatography; Cerebrospinal fluid and chronic pain; Farmaceutisk biovetenskap; Biopharmacy; Biofarmaci; Pharmacognosy; farmakognosi;

    Sammanfattning : Substance P (SP) and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) are sensory peptides known to be involved innociception and inflammatory processes. It is well demonstrated that the two peptides can be released from spinal cord neurons during inflammation and chronic pain induced by peripheral nerve injury. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Role of calcitonin gene-related peptide in nociception : interactions with substance P and opioids

    Författare :Long-Chuan Yu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Calcitonin gene-related peptide CGRP ; CGRP8-37; CGRP-like immunoreactivity; carrageenan; dorsal horn; dorsal root ganglion DRG ; experimentally-induced inflammtion ß-funaltrexamine ß-FNA ; hindpaw withdrawl latency HWL ; hot-plate test; ;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a study of calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) and its antagonist CGRP8-37 and the interactions with substance P and opioids on the transmission of presumed nociceptive information at the spinal cord level in the rat. Significant bilateral increases in hindpaw withdrawal latency (HWL) to heat and mechanical stimulation were induced dose-dependently by intrathecal administration of 5 or 10 but no 1 nmol of CGRP8-37. 4. 9. Pathophysiological mechanisms involved in flap ischemia and its treatment : an experimental study with emphasis on the effects of calcitonin gene-related peptide and spinal cord stimulation on ischemia and manipulation of microcirculation in flaps

    Författare :Giulio Gherardini; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :ischemia; microcirculation; Calcitonin gene-related peptide; spinal cord stimulation;

    Sammanfattning : Flap surgery and microsurgery have expanded the therapeutic options of reconstructive surgery. Partial or total flap necrosis, due to circulatory and metabolic events, is, however, still a significant problem for the plastic surgeon. LÄS MER

  5. 10. The laryngeal mucosa and the superior laryngeal nerve of the rat : an immunohistochemical and electron microscopic study

    Författare :Siw Domeij; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Superior laryngeal nerve; paraganglia; substance P; calcitonin gene-related peptide; neuropeptide Y; vasoactive intestinal polypeptide; enkephalin; mast cells; electron microscopy; immunohistochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Neuropeptides are present in nerve fibers of the upper and lower airways. Local release of these substances may be of importance for the pathophysiology of airway disorders and may play a role in responses to different stimuli. However, little is known about the distribution of neuropeptides in the larynx. LÄS MER
