  1. 11. Studies of fish responses to the antifoulant medetomidine

    Författare :Anna Lennquist; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :antifouling; fish; medetomidine; ecotoxicology; biomarker;

    Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT Growth of marine organisms, fouling, on man-made constructions submerged in the water is regarded as a major problem. For vessels, fouling increases drag and thereby fuel consumption, wherefore antifouling paints are used. Traditionally, they contain toxic compounds, and several of these have unwanted effects in the environment. LÄS MER

  2. 12. On the use of genomics to asses environmental risks of pharmaceuticals

    Författare :Lina-Maria Gunnarsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :comparative pharmacology; ecotoxicology; fish; microarray; genomics; wastewater treatment;

    Sammanfattning : Many drugs are found in the aquatic environment and are therefore a cause for concern. Low concentrations of active ingredients from human pharmaceuticals reach the environment via sewage treatment plants, mainly as a result of excretion. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Clinical Pharmacogenetics of Olanzapine : with Focus on FMO Gene Polymorphisms

    Författare :Mao Mao Söderberg; Marja-Liisa Dahl; Maria Gabriella Scordo; Inger Johansson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; olanzapine; pharmacogenetics; drug metabolism; schizophrenia; therapeutic drug monitoring; FMO1; FMO3; CYP1A2; UGT1A4; Clinical Pharmacology; Klinisk farmakologi;

    Sammanfattning : Pharmacogenetics is the study of variability in drug response attributed to genetic variation. Olanzapine (OLA) is a widely used antipsychotic drug for schizophrenia treatment. The pharmacokinetics of OLA display large inter-individual variation leading to multiple-fold differences in drug exposure between patients at a given dose. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Induction of human cytochrome P450 enzymes : predictive in vitro models and rifampicin induction in vivo

    Författare :Kajsa P Kanebratt; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The cytochrome P450 (P450) enzymes comprise the most important enzyme system with regard to phase I metabolism of drugs. Induction of P450s can result in decreased plasma concentrations of the drug itself or a coadminstered drug, followed by lack of effect. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Bioassay analysis of dioxin-like compounds : response interactions and environmental transformation of Ah receptor agonists

    Författare :Helena Olsman; Magnus Engwall; John P. Giesy; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; bioassay; dioxin-like; Ah receptor; Biology; Biologi; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Dioxin-like compounds mediate their toxicity by binding to the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) and through this receptor a cascade of biochemical and toxic events are triggered. Mechanism-specific dioxin bioassays utilise the AhR coupled induction of endogenous CYP1A proteins or reporter gene systems for detection of dioxin-like compounds and other AhR ligands. LÄS MER
