  1. 11. Discovery of Novel Fatty Acid Dioxygenases and Cytochromes P450 : Mechanisms of Oxylipin Biosynthesis in Pathogenic Fungi

    Författare :Inga Hoffmann; Ernst H Oliw; Alan R Brash; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fusion protein; Linoleate diol synthase; Allene oxide synthase; Cyclooxygenase; Oxygenase; HPLC; Mass spectrometry; Hydroperoxide isomerase; Aspergillus; Fusarium oxysporum; Pharmaceutical Biochemistry; Farmaceutisk biokemi; Farmaceutisk farmakologi; Pharmaceutical Pharmacology; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Dioxygenase-cytochrome P450 (DOX-CYP) fusion enzymes are present in diverse human and plant pathogenic fungi. They oxygenate fatty acids to lipid mediators which have regulatory functions in fungal development and toxin production. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Expression of Genes Encoding for Drug Metabolism in the Small Intestine

    Författare :Monica Lindell; Hans Lennernäs; Matti Lang; Olavi Pelkonen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical biochemistry; CYPs; UGTs; interindividual variation; small intestine; human; rat; artemisinin; CAR-receptor regulation; Farmaceutisk biokemi; Pharmaceutical biochemistry; Farmaceutisk biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : This investigation focused on the mRNA expression of drug metabolising Cytochromes P-450 (CYP) and UDP-glucuronosyltransferases (UGT) and the transport protein P-glycoprotein (Pgp) in the small intestine of humans and rats.The mRNA expression of the investigated genes in the human small intestine (duodenum) varies between individuals giving each one of us personal profile. 3. 13. Cytochrome P450 in the rat brain : characterization and regulation

    Författare :Eva Hedlund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Cytochrome P450s (CYPs) are key enzymes in the metabolism of cholesterol and fatty acids and their derivatives in the body. In the adrenals and gonads these enzymes are involved in steroid hormone biosynthesis, in the liver in bile acid synthesis, in the kidney in synthesis of the calcitropic hormone, calcitriol, and in the cardiovascular system in synthesis of thromboxane A2, a potent inducer of vasoconstriction and platelet aggregation. 4. 14. Pharmacokinetic drug-drug interactions in the management of malaria, HIV and tuberculosis

    Författare :Doaa Elsherbiny; Ulrika Simonsson; Mats Karlsson; Lars Ståhle; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Pharmacokinetics Pharmacotherapy; Pharmacokinetics; Drug-drug interactions; Cytochrome P-450; Artemisinin antimalarials; Nevirapine; Lopinavir; Rifampicin; NONMEM; Farmakokinetik Farmakoterapi;

    Sammanfattning : Malaria, Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and tuberculosis (TB) are global health problems having their worst situation in sub-Saharan Africa. Consequently, concomitant use of antimalarial, antiretroviral and antitubercular drugs may be needed, resulting in a potential risk of drug-drug interactions. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Azoles and Contaminants in Treated Effluents Interact with CYP1 and CYP19 in Fish

    Författare :Kristina Beijer; Ingvar Brandt; Björn Brunström; Henner Hollert; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Azole; fungicide; chemical; CYP1A; CYP19; EROD; aromatase; effluent; STP; wastewater; fish; stickleback; rainbow trout; Biologi med inriktning mot ekotoxikologi; Biology with specialization in Environmental Toxicology;

    Sammanfattning : Numerous contaminants are present in mixtures in the aquatic environment. Among these are the azoles, a group of chemicals that includes both pharmaceuticals and pesticides. Azole fungicides are designed to inhibit lanosterol 14-demethylase (cytochrome P450 (CYP) 51), while other azoles are intended to inhibit aromatase (CYP19), i.e. LÄS MER
