6. Strategies to optimize T cell-based cancer immunotherapy
Sammanfattning : Remarkable progress has been made in the field of tumor immunology in the past decade but active immunotherapy is not yet an established treatment modality. Tumor associated antigens (TAAs) presented in the form of peptides in association with MHC class 1 can be recognized by T cells and represent major targets of immunotherapy strategies to treat cancer patients. 7. Processing of live and heat inactivated Sendai virus for presentation on MHC class I molecules
Sammanfattning : The present thesis deals with processing of antigens from live and heat inactivated Sendai virus and their loading on MHC class I molecules for presentation to CTL. In paper I it was observed surprisingly that T2 cells (T2 cells transfected with H-2Kb), being defective in the expression of TAP peptide transporters, still presented Sendai virus antigen on MHC class I molecules to CTL. 8. Flow cytometric methods for assessment of cell-mediated immune responses
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to develop and improve flow cytometry-based methods for assessment of cellmediated immune responses (CMI) induced by natural infection or vaccination. Traditionally, the measurement of anti genspecific cellular immune responses has been based on the use of complex, labourintensive, and less informative bulkresults assays (51Cr-release, 3 3H-thymidin uptake and Limiting dilution assay, LDA). 9. Landskapet som lärobok : Regionalitet och medborgarfostran i Jämtland kring sekelskiftet 1900
Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the relationship between regionality and societal integration at the turn of the 20th century from an historical and pedagogical perspective. The national identity project of the time that made national unity its overarching goal and that imagined the nation as a homogenous entity, also institutionalised regional distinctiveness. LÄS MER
10. HIV-2 and SIV vaccine studies in macaques : with emphasis on humoral immune responses
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the evaluation of HIV vaccines candidates in the HIV-2 or SIV monkey models. The immunogenicity and protective efficacy of the vaccines were investigated. Furthermore, correlates to protective immunity were sought. LÄS MER
