  1. 1. Structures, toxicity and internalization of cell-penetrating peptides

    Författare :Emelía Eiríksdóttir; Ülo Langel; Michael Gait; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CPP; cell-penetrating peptide; internalization; toxicity; structures; Neurochemistry; Neurokemi; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Sammanfattning : Cellular internalization is a highly regulated process controlled by proteins in the plasma membrane. Large and hydrophilic compounds, in particular, face difficulties conquering the plasma membrane barrier in order to gain access to intracellular environment. This puts serious constrains on the drug industry since many drugs are hydrophilic. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Vectorization of oligonucleotides with cell-penetrating peptides : Characterization of uptake mechanisms and cytotoxicity

    Författare :Samir EL Andaloussi; Ülo Langel; Alain Prochiantz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CPP; endocytosis; splice correction; siRNA; PNA; cargo delivery; M918; Neurochemistry; Neurokemi; Neurochemistry and Molecular Neurobiology; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The hydrophobic plasma membrane constitutes an indispensable barrier for cells in living animals. Albeit being pivotal for the maintenance of cells, the inability to cross the plasma membrane is still one of the major obstacles to overcome in order to progress current drug development. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Genetic mutations can cause a wide range of diseases, e.g. cancer. Gene therapy has the potential to alleviate or even cure these diseases. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Essays on Credit Risk

    Författare :Caren Guo Nielsen; Nationalekonomiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Asset pricing; equity returns; size effect; value effect; momentum effect; credit risk effect; credit default swap; banks; asset risk; credit risk; portfolio choice; risk-based capital regulation; bank bailouts; moral hazard; distress risk; capital injections; TARP; CPP; market discipline; financial crisis;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation covers the issues related to credit risk that stem from the recent financial crisis and that are concerned by investors, financial intermediaries, and governments. The results of the research have important implications for asset managers, such as using the information from the credit risk market to rebalance stock portfolios, and for policy makers in regulating or bailing out banks. 5. 5. Chimeric gene delivery vectors : Design, synthesis, and mechanisms from transcriptomics analysis

    Författare :Moataz Dowaidar; Ülo Langel; Sandrine Sagan; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell-penetrating peptides; magnetic nanoparticles; graphene oxide; autophagy; siRNA; SCO; QSAR; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Sammanfattning : Delivery of nucleic acid is a promising approach for genetic diseases/disorders. However, gene therapy using oligonucleotides (ONs) suffers from low transfection efficacy due to negative charges, weak cellular permeability, and enzymatic degradation. LÄS MER
