16. Pharmacological interactions between angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, bradykinin and nitric oxide
Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular diseases are a major cause of death in Western countries. Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) is as a key enzyme in the renin-angiotensin system involved in the regulation of blood pressure, and water and electrolyte balance in the body. LÄS MER
17. Restraint in structures with young concrete : Tools and estimations for practical use
Sammanfattning : One of the widespread issues in concrete structures is cracks occurring at early age. Cracks that appear in the young concrete may cause early start of corrosion of rebars or early penetration of harmful liquids or gases into the concrete body. LÄS MER
18. Aggregates in Concrete Mix Design
Sammanfattning : The importance of studying the behaviour and properties of concrete can be highlighted by considering the fact that concrete is the most used man-made material in the world. The very first step in making concrete is its mix design and deciding the type and amount of constitutes used in the production of concrete which should fulfil the requirements of the final product. 19. The role of pain modulation in non-suicidal self-injury
Sammanfattning : Individuals with non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) behavior tend to report feeling little or no pain when they self-injure. Moreover, in laboratory studies the NSSI population tends to demonstrate reduced sensitivity to painful stimuli. There is reason to believe that hypoalgesia could be a risk factor for developing and maintaining NSSI. LÄS MER
20. Efficient Coding Techniques for Networks & Channels with Transmission Errors
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of two parts, both of whichinvestigate coding techniques for information transmission throughchannels in the presence of errors. Part I discusses topics ofnetwork coding and rateless codes. Part~II considers channel codesfor continuous phase modulation. These two parts are clearlydifferent, but they are also related. LÄS MER
