  1. 6. Hadron Physics in a Polarized World : Exploring Electromagnetic Interactions with Spin Observables

    Författare :Viktor Thorén; Andrzej Kupsc; Karin Schönning; Magnus Wolke; David Ireland; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hadron; Hyperon; Meson; Polarization; Spin observables; Electromagnetic interactions; BESIII; Fysik med inriktning mot kärnfysik; Physics with specialization in Nuclear Physics;

    Sammanfattning : The electromagnetic interactions of hadrons serve as a valuable probe of the nature of the strong force at low energies and simultaneously allow for tests of fundamental discrete symmetries. In this thesis, I show how polarization observables can be used to gain an in-depth understanding of these processes and present two analyses of data from the BESIII experiment where such observables have been studied. 2. 7. B-physics potential of the ATLAS experiment and performance of the ATLAS Transition Radiation Tracker

    Författare :Chafik Driouichi; Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ATLAS; B-physics; LHC; Bc meson; Elementary particle physics; Transition Radiation Tracker; quantum field theory; Elementarpartikelfysik; kvantfältteori; Fysicumarkivet A:2004:Driouichi;

    Sammanfattning : The ATLAS experiment is one of the four experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), which is supposed to be operational in early 2007. Proton-proton collisions at an unprecedented center-of-mass energy of 14 TeV will probe new frontiers of the universe, hopefully providing a better understanding of the laws governing our universe. 3. 8. Performance and Radiation Hardness of the ATLAS/SCT Detector Module

    Författare :Lars Eklund; Richard Brenner; Sijbrand de Jong; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; High Energy Physics; Tracking; Silicon Microstrip Dectector; Radiation Hardness; Electrical Performance; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; högenergifysik; High Energy Physics;

    Sammanfattning : The ATLAS experiment is a general purpose experiment being constructed at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, Geneva. ATLAS is designed to exploit the full physics potential of LHC, in particular to study topics con- cerning the Higgs mechanism, Super-symmetry and CP violation. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Charged current quasi-elastic muon neutrino interactions in the Baby MIND detector

    Författare :Sven-Patrik Hallsjö; Soler Paul; UK University of Glasgow College of Science and Engineering School of Physics and Astronomy; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The T2K long-baseline neutrino experiment in Japan is designed to study neutrino oscillations, to determine the mixing angles and mass-squared difference of the neutrino mass eigenstates and, potentially, to discover CP violation in neutrinos by comparing neutrino to antineutrino oscillations. In the near detector complex 280 m downstream of the produc- tion target at the Japanese Particle Accelerator Research Centre (J-PARC), the WAGASCI experiment will measure the ratio of cross sections from neutrinos interacting with a water and scintillator targets, in order to constrain neutrino cross sections essential for the T2K neutrino oscillation measurements.
